“Right now, there’s an imbalance between the north and the south (solar) poles,” Jonathan Cirtain, NASA’s project scientist for a Japanese solar mission called Hinode, in a recent article on NASA’s website. “The north is already in transition, well ahead of the south pole, and we don’t understand why.”

The hinode website says that their observations were that the south pole was not moving while the north pole had almost completed its flip which "would suggest a transition from the typical bipolar configuration" The timeline was a month as the north was already flipping, and that was a couple weeks ago. I haven't found anything on it since or really know what a quadripolar sun would actually do. I cant help but interject here! This group from Japan pulls this crap repeatedly. The poles on the Sun flip every cycle! A new cycle begins with a reversed polarity sunspot. We had one a few months ago (way early ) NASA missed the fact, and projected a large geomagnetic storm from it but it did not happen because the CME hit + to - and did not make a good connection with our magetosphere. We did! Go back a few monthsandread ysef, as well as NiNs posts on the subject. The Northern latitude sunspots will reverse polarity and the southern latitude sunspots will as well after the polar reversal We are still a year away from solar max. Then we have several years of decline then the poles will be reversed after a long period of a spotless sun we will find a reversed polarity sunspot in the northern hemisphere of the Sun and cycle 25 will be undrway. OK! GEESH! Again, just to be very clear! The Sun reverses it magnetic poles every 11 years. The Earth does not, as often, yet it does also!. One day we will, as Earth has done it many, many, many times. We know this because the sea floor is striated with strips of magnetically aligned seabed N-S then S-N then N-S over and over as the sea floor expands from underneath the continent in the pacific ocean; as it cools it is permanently magnetized according to the polar alignment of the Earth. It changes every several hundered to million years, over, and over again. But the Sun does it every 11 yeqrs! ON Q! Maybe this is our year to flip with the Sun? think about it..haha!
