While researching the timing of the Carrington Event of 1859, I came across this interesting graph: [ link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)] Try this link instead: [ link to en.wikipedia.org] Our limited observations show that THE SOLAR CYCLE HAS NEVER BEEN 11 YEARS! Solar cycles in recent centuries have varied from 9.0 years to 13.7 years: yet has NEVER been 11 years! The closest was 2 cycles which lasted 11.3 years. This 11-year-cycle is just an average, or maybe complete bullshit like so much else we've been told. THEY REALLY DON'T KNOW SHIT! WE WATCH- because,collectively, we're doing the job (for free!) that the corporate-government can't get a handle on. Every year, last year's theory gets trashed and replaced by new hypotheses.  Yep,yep and triple yep! Solar Science is not a closed case,no-where near infact that is why all the sleuthing and watching done by all the great Folks here on this thread is just as valuable as the data we receive back from those who's profession it is to interpret and then predict future conditions from the same Solar Data and Images we trawl through. This thread is a Solar blessing. Original Respect to NiNz for starting it.and to you SC, HME, TS66 and the rest that also keep this thread updated like it is.. i thoroughly 'enjoy' this thread guys.. eventhough i'm not the solar wizz that others are, i already was very interested in our sun , this thread also turned me into a 'suntard' if i may use that expression...
