AR1515 CME MYSTERY-Why are all of these large CMEs from 1515 directed so far to the south? This region has been well-positioned to slam the Earth with hot plasma but for some unknown reason the blasts are being deflected well south of the ecliptic plane. I don't really have a theory for this puzzling enigma, however I have noticed something unusual. If you look at the far left of the STEREO Ahead EUV images, there's a pyramidal formation parked directly over the equator between 1515 and 1513. [ link to stereo.gsfc.nasa.gov] I don't know if this is some kind of magnetic field or a DARPA deflector shield experiment; but it does seem to be deflecting the coronal mass ejections away from the equatorial/ecliptic region. If this "cap" breaks down or dissipates we may see more Earth-directed CMEs. Does anyone have a theory about this "structure"? I've never seen anything like it.  Quoting: Hugh M Eye let take what ever protection we can from what ever does it!!!! strange pics there. my father flies radio control planes most of the best fliers have lost control of their planes and crashed this past week. 6 my father said about 3 days ago. these guys check the weather...my father tells them to check space weather...they laugh at him....he did not fly this week...he still has all his planes! i think he is laughing now
