I don't care what the popular opinion is the Northern polarity jump has done something to the energy release.Electric force is 10x40 that of gravity. This gives atomic atoms their unique characteristics. There is a mutual repulsion between + charged nucleus and the - charged electrons, but then theres the issue of a mutual attraction to gravity. Now think about this, if you alter the ratio between them by a small amount, you can greatly change the characteristics of atomic(solar) energy. Raising the efficiency of transformation means allowing a stronger glue between the particles and their distribution release. In theory with the suns polarity issue the stronger the SS the bigger the chance it holds its energy back because of this'glue'. Probably way off, but i've been dwelling on this for awhile

This is definitely open for discussion as my postulation may or may not hold water.

Its either this or ... aliens. lol

I've always thought it would be cool if someone musically inclined could map out the rhythm of the Sun...like make a music scale and see where the peaks and valleys are of the lines.

Might form a cool tune!

over the last 4hrs or so, there has FINALLY been some growth within sunspot 1520
it has remained stable with little change in the last 24hrs
but looking at the SDO magnetogran images for today, i can see delta growth within the main section of 1520 as well as growth and movement within the surrounding sunspot regions
our calm soon may be over

Yes its the CME. One extremely large CME could take it down, or a series of hits opening up the magnetosphere. The plasmatic energy stretches the magnetosphere and its the snapback that delivers the blow,but a well placed series of events could trigger a possible collapse as gound electrons surge in on an open 'crack' in the shield. One other problem is if we were going through a pole shift our magnetosphere could weaken to the point of massive energy saturation as our geodynamo slows.Many variables for doom!

Also many variables in the speed of the CME. They can take hours to reach earth, or days.

I keep reading different info on it, with some saying that the first energy from the flare that reaches earth right away is also dangerous. The large CME or serious of would be a grid down, yes, but I just wondered if right after the flare or the flare itself that travels very quickly, would hurt earth or humans?

Edit: forgot to ask, you did mean magnetic pole shift or physical?

I will contribute to the anti-glp effect! I predict the graph will flatline until 1520 rotates away from Earth-facing side of the Sun!
