What a wonderful sleep i had, Huge storms have rolled in and cleared away some of the heat! And i see that our nice geostorm has not let up:D Happy Hunting all! Quoting: SnakeBite Morning! Yes we have Kp=6 still , Bz is decidedly South. and a solar wind speed of around 500 KM/Psec. Earth is still collecting lots of protons . This was not as big an event as 1989 Quebec - that flare was an X-15, following several smaller CME producing flares. This is a practice run for the really BIG one that we could get this year. I've watched these past two days, and we really haven't seen nothin' yet, as the saying goes. But it has been fun to watch. Hard to take your eyes away. |

Our atmosphere is full of particles, eventually- discharged out to space, random bonding w/other particles, here is a good short article [link to teachertech.rice.edu] (not as good as I thought), anyway, most particles bounce around in the ionosphere. |

shenue User ID: 5263313 United States 07/15/2012 06:03 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | One thing that must be taken into consideration... We are a LOT more dependent on satellites/electronics than we were even 23 years ago, back in 1989. If we have some satellites go out now, the effects on our society would be much worse than just 23 years ago. Just something to think about. We use satellites for so many things now. Everything from our phones, TV services, to GPS and much more. Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Yesterday when it started NiN had said about 30 hours. That would put it sometime in the next hour or so. It would be nice if that estimate is still holding true. I would trust NOAA or NASA for measurements pertinent to the USA, is all I can say. |
