Perhaps someone can answer my question now?

Do these two charts basically say the same thing?

IMF Polar Angle

Right now the IMF Polar angle is heading south.
And in the HAARP VHF Riometer chart, the red absorption line is over on-top of the blue detector signal line.

Do both charts indicate that we are getting breaches or cracks in the magnetosphere - which to my knowledge are not being reported in google news.?


This chart has been between 3 and 6 red lines across to the 35 mark all day here in NZ.

I live in a very remote part of NZ.
I am 67 years old and would very much appreciate it if one of you young bright ones could answer an old lady's sincere questions.
I am trying to learn.
Perhaps not the young man who requires dental work.

The vhf chart shows above average electromagnetic waves, which coincides and is explained through our LDE flare today.
The Imf charts (interplanetary magnetic field)show the line almost running By, which isn't good but means we are at an impass, particles are at the door but can't come in. When it drops to the negative or southern pole position it is allowing energy particles in. We're not in bad shape at all right now, lets wait and see how much of the CME we catch. We do have alot of proton absorption and even if the chart drops , theres buildup of shear pressure, so I wouldn't rule out any shaking! But we're gonna see alot worse than this in the days to come, these are prep storms. I still wouldn't worry this is cyclical and meant to happen, has to happen! Namaste!

And yes I do believe we have 'cracks' in our magnetosphere, Dr. Michael Brooks likens it to a vermont and texas sized port, spread apart by half of the united states, its still functioning fine.

AMAZING! Today's CME is so fast that the leading edge is already visible on the latest STEREO A HI2 image. It's not seen on the Behind HI2 yet, so Earth is not in the direct line of fire (so far).

The GOES Proton flux is going vertical again! What happened??? Was there another CME from the C3.9 flare? Or are the protons arriving in clumps from the earlier ejection? I'm mystified.

Here we get an opportunity to see (visually),what we just experienced. This is a very close representation to the CME that was ejected from Sunspot Region 1520 on July 12, during the X1.4 S/F.

Seems we got a stream coming, protons shot back up, absorption level at high latitude went up nicely.I've been preoccupied maybe a filament liftoff with that flare. We could have had an unannounced CME?

Wouldn't it be due to what you just posted two comments earlier, that the leading edge is here (or almost) here already its travelling so fast?

Better angle same density or close to it ehh.

this is what it looked like on C3. Between this flare and the phantom M-flare the other day that was listed at solar ham etc. but not NOAA I've never seen it look that bright before in the two years I've been watching.

I've also been looking at a few from the last cycle and haven't seen any (yet) that are that bright

Proton levels jumped back up, but moderate, it seems we'll just keep a constent energy level of some sort!

It (the CME) has got a torus thing goin on there.

Hi, Isis One, that leading edge is not coming here. We may get sideswiped a little and I'm sure we'll see an interplanetary shock-wave. I'm fairly certain the last flare re-energized the proton flux but it's unclear to me how it happened. Maybe it just accelerated the protons which were already on the way. On the STEREO A difference movie we can still see plasma streaming from the first CME:

I watched the largest 'ever' proton event today on Helioviewer and there was almost instantaneous saturation on C3.

the latest event didn't have any saturation but the overall brightness was much greater imo

this is the saturation from the X-5.4 flare back in March

Hi Hugh M Eye, I didn't write enough before. I did know that we will only get a little glancing blow possibly. However, always in the back of my mind is my little pet theory (that pertains to your mystified comment) that some stuff propagates throughout the interstellar medium in ways that we are not fully aware of or have instruments that measure. So that for instance even though we know it takes a day or two or more for the CME to arrive I feel that other energies arrive instantaneously, outside the space-time continuum, anyway, just my pet theory. I couldn't get those links to load, I don't know if I have to disable something or what, anyway thanks for all your help and input here, its always straight-up and no bullcrap, so, much appreciated,
