While things are slow I thought I would share a few photos from Mayhem fest in OK city this past wed..One of the pictures is my wife giving Clown(#6) a rose..he gave her a hug and kiss on the cheek and visited with us for a while. My son`s favorite band is Slipknot so he was totally beside himself. he also got a picture with Clown later...good times and great memories for my boy

That is awesome! I love Slipknot and I have since I was in my teens!

A few years ago my husband got us tickets to go on a radio show in NYC and we got to meet the members of Korn. Of course, I was just interested in Jonathan Davis. lol

Very cool...we have seen Korn 3 or 4 times. Always a good show..Slayer and Anthrax was at this show too..Very impressed with slayer. Our concerts are winding down for the year. My wife and I have Boston in sept and that`s it for a while..We seen a ton of shows this year..been a great summer

Pretty awesome..I've been to only a couple concerns, unfortunately. But, for a good reason--I had kids. lol!

When I was 17, I went to Ozzfest. That was pretty cool.

'axe handle' coronal hole looks to be somewhat intact still

yes yes 1515 is still huge and can shoot off a X class...it looks bigger then 1520 now even though it is in decline.

Maybe of some interest.

I've been looking everywhere for the "PCAF" scale because I never really knew what it was but always saw it at the bottom of the NOAA Solar report, most often I see it at a condition "yellow" but today it was "red".

Polar_cap:

PCAF: A 24-hour forecast of a polar cap absorption (PCA) event. The PCA forecasts are color coded:
PCAF Green: No active sunspot region on the Sun is likely to produce a PCA event in the 24 hours.
PCAF Yellow: A sunspot region showing characteristics favorable for producing a PCA event is present on the Sun. If an energetic flare occurs in this region, the probability of a significant PCA event is very high.
PCAF Red: An energetic solar event has occurred or a proton event has been observed at satellite altitudes, and there is a high probability that a significant PCA event will result within the next 24 hours.

Anyone have any additional info on this, it's repercussions, or origins ? Is this coronal hole enough to raise the PCAF scale to red ?

Maybe it's time to change my line of questioning ....

I'm guessing this is a planetary wobble thing? This time of year the northern hemisphere is leaning towards the sun, getting more exposure etc. I'm guessing the drap will look the opposite in December when the southern hemisphere is angled towards the sun?

By the way, for Isis and anyone else that was using [link to www.theusner.eu] to check out past or current Kp levels, I am happy to report that the author got back to me and acknowledged the mistake in his graphing mechanism. He's gone ahead and fixed it so you can now use his site with full confidence in it's accuracy.

The Kp readings regurgitated there are from GFZ, which is actually the provider of the official planetary Kp index that agencies such as NOAA defer to. So now that he's fixed the bug in his graphs it's a great source of data!

I think we should do a little survey now. Try to think of some major (mostly metaphysical kind of stuff) event that has happened to you over the years and then check the archive to see if there is any concordance and/or correlations. We could check big earthquakes, global incidences, your own awakening etc.

The Dst index jumped up to about -25 nT around the time the July 17 CME was forecast to deliver us a glancing blow.
