SOLAR WATCH * Huge X8.2 Flare Sept. 10, 2017! (Updated Daily)

Looking ferocious down there...

I was looking at those earlier.

Guten Morgen GASA

Looks like a Flare with CME on GOES(potentially) [link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] Flare from region 1542 - Caught it just as I awakened on EVE.

There's been a little bit of flexing of the Magnetosphere/pause but nothing too dense nor persistent [link to iswa.gsfc.nasa.gov:8080]

Though the Fok Ring still appears to be quite loaded(Protons and Electrons)close to and within Geo-sycnhronous orbit [link to ccmc.gsfc.nasa.gov]


Pretty sure I can see a minor Flaring with associated ejecta on this H.Alpha stepthrough from Sunspot 1543 [link to halpha.nso.edu] anyone else see that,it is slight?

On this one 1542 and 43 seem to be Flaring in sympathy with one another [link to halpha.nso.edu] .

Also,has anyone else noticed that on the AIA 171 SDO images it looks as though someone has been 'softening' the edges of Field lines as they rotate onto the Disc [link to sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov] I had noticed this a while back and thought it may just be a 'artifact' of the way the image is processed,though I am not too sure anymore,hmm?

I always thought it was normal to have super Low systems in the North and South Poles?

Have we got a new Satellite or something that is imaging these,causing folks to ponder or do these genuinely appear to be abnormal?

ive seen them there before, but not as persistant as this...however, we have had weird weather (i.e. the 'cells' sitting over the NPole area, may as well assume that one can sit over the Spole area as well....)

im not tooooo concerned about this, however, if it continues for much longer i will be.

Sheesh,if that is corect there should be a Geomagnetic Shock Passage recorded somewhere,must look.

If that happened we will see extra charge in our little Fokker in the coming Hours/Days.

I noticed that the TEC count was high over the GOM in earlier posts,what became of those Storm Cells,I heard one made Land,can't remember the other..the reason I ask is that the concentration appeared highest at 200-250 KMs directly above this area,that would spell extra charging in my book,no?

The strongest Winds are usually observed in the Poles but as you mentioned,if the areas persist for too long I'd imagine that we'd begin to see the affects on the Pressure Systems in other locations..that's if they grow to abnormal size.

I just had a look at the sim. again at around 6:56 the Magnetopause splits at the bow to produce a temporary Magnetobubble all of its' own [link to pixie.spasci.com]

Though that may just be due to the Sims. inability to show 3D images.

Good idea,though I always believe that major Earth events pertaining to Solar System events need'nt be immidiate but instead take a while to show themselves..that is unless say something like our Fields were to collapse more or less completely for a small amount of time,then we would see immidiate affects.

Aswell as other events like significant relative expanding or shrinking of the Atmospheres due to excess charge and other possible triggers for Earth/Weather events.

I think it depends alot more on present Geomagnetic conditions in the Magnetosphere and the charge in the lower Ionosphere to produce a decent Auroral display than it does the Class of Flare,though more often than not Aurorae are spotted during a Geo-magnetic Storm thats' caused by a CME rather than a X-Ray Flare.

Why do you ask,have you seen a Aurora there of late!?

I saw a very dim one back in April or May it was. I didn't have a DSLR camera at the time and now I have one so I can prove that I saw one. Thanks for your response. I am in Northern California if you are wondering.

Yeah, as SC stated, alot of variables involved...but if you snap one, we would be VERY interested in it....i firmly believe that you will get a chance before year end.

theres a difference between Haarp activity (i.e. weatherdoommachine) and haarps spectrogram measurements...
Yes, a reading of 7-8 on Haarpstatus is high, and yes, it could lead to increased weather/seismic activity, but it isnt caused by haarp..
(i just checked, it wasnt the USA61 thread i was talking about, there seems to be a few parasitic threads running now)...but the point still stands..

Yeah everyone thinks everything is caused by HAARP. It's kind of getting to the annoying phase.
