That's a legitimate photo, and pretty much correlates with current activity (at least earthside).

This is a shot of the backside of the sun, looks pretty active, and I would assume well organized sun spots.

This is a shot from the sun earthside, and as you can see, not much going on there, sunspots are not well organized and most are on the decline
