Awwww, thanks, everyone! I got all five of my kids through/into college, but never got the chance to attend. So, I'm taking four classes and I'm nervous as heck! I've started at community college, but I'm hoping to transfer to a university in a couple of years. I have no idea what I want to be when I grow up, but you folks have really gotten me excited about science and learning. :)

I say this all the time, my life has also been on hold (not really the appropriate term I guess), working, making sure we have health insurance, helping my husband establish a pretty good business for himself.

Now I'm home, and my last child of 4 is off to an IT trade school.

Would love to follow your lead, guess we will see what life brings hf

do you guys have any news about the Aug 31st and Sep 1st's flare? Has it reached earth already? any colateral damages?

Can someone help me please? Goes magnetometer has a brief gap in data in the last hour. Any idea what could be blocking the data on both 13 & 15? No break in data previous 2 days.

you never let me down hehe always appreciate your answers

ok, so explain me something, as far I've understood, we're not dealing with a regular flare, right? in case your answer is yes, then tell me, could it be the first of a massive eruption that could lead to a global power-grid overheating and also to the eletromag-field reversal?

again, if yes, tell me about the chances, in numbers.

I've also heard about some 'star water' and a possible 'changing' in our ionosphere - confirms? if yes, are you aware of the possivel following events?

Guys, sorry about asking so many things, but I've heard a lot of things recently and I thing every body here has too, so these questions are probably not only my own, and I'd appreciate if somebody could put them all together and explain these things.

thanks for now

Re: SOLAR WATCH * Huge X8.2 Flare Sept. 10, 2017! (Updated Daily)
Good morning all hf

According to Solen [link to www.solen.info]

Region 11560 [N03W05] developed further with a magnetic delta structure forming in the trailing spot section. A major flare is possible. The region was the source of a long duration C2.8 event peaking before 04h UTC on September 2. This event was associated with a CME which could be aimed at Earth given the center disk location of the source. STEREO-A displays a CME, however, LASCO imagery may change the evaluation of the importance of the CME.

The geomagnetic field is expected to be quiet to unsettled on September 2. A CME could reach Earth on September 3 and cause active to major storm conditions that day and on September 4. The CME observed early on September 2 could reach Earth on September 5 and cause unsettled to minor storm conditions.

20-60% chance of M and/or X flares
 Quoting: TS66

Hello, 66! Thanks for that info on the new CME. I think the CACTus computer models are broken. They list the median velocity of this CME at more than 1700 km/s (and the big, type IV halo one from the 31st they had at less than 800 km/s). Seems backwards to me.

CACTus CME Details:

[link to www.sidc.oma.be]

CACTus Diagnostics:

[link to www.sidc.oma.be]

We could get a much bigger CME from region 1560 if it pops a big one soon. Another sign of solar max is sunspots forming near the equator....and they tend to be more geo-effective, too.

We had a C flare that magnetically released a large filament, which is very dense in plasma, so these are not your normal plasma type flare associated releases. Some believe this solar max even though slow right now in comparison has the ability to give us fewer but larger events. We are getting closer to the suns flip, but I believe we've got some big events coming in the next several months. I'm looking for the southern hemisphere to give us a show soon.We can only watch and wait.

Starwater is something I'm not as familiar with as Cesium, as he has talked about it in the past.Supposedly this filament liftoff released starwater but thats heresay.Nin or Hugh or nerd or splinter or someone besides me could help you with that. I've researched it awhile back but its vague.

I do know there is talk of alot of subatomic particles and secondary radiation being absorbed in ley lines and planetary meridians allowing for quicker saturation of new incoming events. We had alot of proton saturation not to long ago,for an extended period. Psyoptics is very good with this info.

There is also talk of our magnetic field becoming 'twisted'. As the earth spins on its axis, the field lines become twisted, which creates new currents within our core. Typically this adds to the current field, but if its orientation is shifted, as some believe is happening, to the dominant field, it can subvert or weaken the overall magnetization. So as you can see theres ALOT going on within the full spectrum.
Hope that helps there are alot of great minds on this thread that can probably do better!Peacehf

All I would say is that the data is all about conditions here on earth. My thought is that the wildcard is what the SUN does today. That's why this thread is so great.

Has a large flare ever come from a small SS?
Has a BGD ever been a dud?
Do filaments normally erupt?

Most of the science we have can only give "likelyhoods".

That wicked filament burst was not expected much, I think.

If that big pussy sol gives us a wet fart today, all bets are off!

perfect explanation.

only two questions remained then, could NIN or some other person answer them please?

btw, since this incident happened, we've had one significant increasing in chemtrails being spread in the sky. dunno if it's relevant though

looks like spaceweather added to their report on thei Filament CME
"NOAA forecasters estimate a 40% chance of strong polar geomagnetic storms when the cloud arrives on Sept. 3rd."

the front of the CME arrived yesterday and barley glanced or did anything at all
but, it would appear that NOAA is also watching what i am, and thats the super black dense mass from this CME that is still enrout in space
Here you can see the mass im speaking of off to the fer left in this image as it is seen at 01:47 UTC
[link to stereo-ssc.nascom.nasa.gov]
and here we can see it much better in the latest HI2 image at 07:48
[link to stereo-ssc.nascom.nasa.gov]

believe me, it that does hit, we will all know it

here is the images of the CME cloud on HI1 for Sept 26, 2011
that cloud caused a Kp8 Geomagnetic Storm
[link to stereo-ssc.nascom.nasa.gov]
[link to stereo-ssc.nascom.nasa.gov]
i added these to show how its more about impact
and when we see very dense mass such as what we see today, we are super lucky when it does not give a direct hit
Because if the cloud on the 2 images directly above can cause a Kp8 (with a good hit) can you just imagine what the CME cloud we see today would do if it hit us just right?

Re: SOLAR WATCH * Huge X8.2 Flare Sept. 10, 2017! (Updated Daily)
allllrighty!!

Good morning y'all.
I hope y'all are doing well. I think all the pre-cme particles have me feeling a bit rough, well, something does anyway.

Proton flux still high:

EPAM protons still way up

SIS still running high:

Bz is still WAY south, but we don't have much solar wind to speak of--approx 300km/s.

And finally, the last 12 hrs or so have shown an uptick in density, though radial speed and temp remain low.

Two days, count um, two days with both Ninz and Hugh posting!!

Happy times, happy times!

Re: SOLAR WATCH * Huge X8.2 Flare Sept. 10, 2017! (Updated Daily)
looks like spaceweather added to their report on thei Filament CME

Nin do you have more of an idea (I'd love your opinion) with the new info/images that came out today, or are we still very much dependent on that 20 minute window to see what kind of impact this may have ?
