I hope y'all are doing well. I think all the pre-cme particles have me feeling a bit rough, well, something does anyway. Proton flux still high: [link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] EPAM protons still way up [link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] cap: [link to i1165.photobucket.com] SIS still running high: [link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] Bz is still WAY south, but we don't have much solar wind to speak of--approx 300km/s. And finally, the last 12 hrs or so have shown an uptick in density, though radial speed and temp remain low. [link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] Two days, count um, two days with both Ninz and Hugh posting!! Happy times, happy times! |

Why do we watch this data? [link to mysolaralerts.blogspot.com] We watch the Phi angle at ACE we can see this here [link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] The Phi angle = Interplanetary magnetic field polar angle Phi is the angle of the interplanetary magnetic field that is being carried out by the solar wind [link to helios.gsfc.nasa.gov] Join Me On The GLP SOLAR WATCH Thread Thread: SOLAR WATCH * Huge X8.2 Flare Sept. 10, 2017! Nin do you have more of an idea (I'd love your opinion) with the new info/images that came out today, or are we still very much dependent on that 20 minute window to see what kind of impact this may have ? we are still on that 20min window, sorry :/ this CME was off to the eastern limb, but it was flung (for lack of a better word) all over the place durring ejection because of this, the mass trajectory is so hard to calculate it could go about anywhere i keep trying to go over the movies of the Filament ejection on Aug 31st to see if i can tell the direction of the main mass, and i just cant say for sure at all so we have to waite and see what shows up on ACE but, i for one will be glues to the monitors through the day to see what shows, because if that main mass hits, wow that will show up super easy and leave no question as to it's arrival Everything will spike Join Me On The GLP SOLAR WATCH Thread Thread: SOLAR WATCH * Huge X8.2 Flare Sept. 10, 2017! psyoptics User ID: 11919225 United States 09/02/2012 12:51 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Good morning all Quoting: TS66 According to Solen [link to www.solen.info] Region 11560 [N03W05] developed further with a magnetic delta structure forming in the trailing spot section. A major flare is possible. The region was the source of a long duration C2.8 event peaking before 04h UTC on September 2. This event was associated with a CME which could be aimed at Earth given the center disk location of the source. STEREO-A displays a CME, however, LASCO imagery may change the evaluation of the importance of the CME. The geomagnetic field is expected to be quiet to unsettled on September 2. A CME could reach Earth on September 3 and cause active to major storm conditions that day and on September 4. The CME observed early on September 2 could reach Earth on September 5 and cause unsettled to minor storm conditions. 20-60% chance of M and/or X flares just me but the filament was beautiful...and 2 day off from being an issue....now 1560 and 1564...i would keep an eye on them. i felt 1560 would be BGD right when it would be earth facing.... now lets watch and hope that weird thing happens where it does nothing until it rounds the western limb! a good video editor can make anyone say anything the editor wants. |

It's going to produce soon ,eh? The watch is on... Quoting: SpiderJones Rut-roh, Bz= way south, yikes! [link to www.solarham.net] Its almost BGD, that center needs to wrap a little tighter, but its growth has stalled. Its still plenty big enough to give us a nice event! “One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. Thank you again for all this wonderfull brainstorming! Quoting: Luisport Anyone can respond me? Solarham says tomorrow mid day, but we 're getting proton accum. from the flare and we've had our density fluctuate, so we've had early mild plasma responses. Bz has been riding south so anything moderate will give us a bit of trouble, denser plasma tonight through tomorrow Last Edited by Thinking out loud on 09/02/2012 02:23 PM “One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle.
