madajs User ID: 6377684 Canada 09/16/2012 07:24 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I wish I could interpret solarsofts "jargon" better. Quoting: madajs At around 2300 UTC Sept 15 they write (in red): "SurfsUp AR 1566 Eruptive 89.6 (89.6 of what?) Waves to Neighbors" Lockheed martin has some kind of sense of humour... Uh, that says B 9.6 and if you click on it you get the movie: [link to sdowww.lmsal.com] I agree they have a wacky super-nerdy sense of humor. My favorite was "WTF?-Where's The Flares?"; which would be very appropriate for today, haha. DOH Thanks man And always, he fought the temptation to choose a clear, safe course, warning: "That path leads ever down into stagnation." |

We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. Hugh M Eye User ID: 22914370 United States 09/16/2012 09:28 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | That fat filament in the northwest which SC called a "caterpillar" has lifted off between 22:00z and 24:00z. We'll undoubtedly see a CME appear on SOHO soon. Here's the Big Bear movie of filament liftoff: [link to halpha.nso.edu] And here's the SDO images: 22:15z- [link to sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov] 23:30z- [link to sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov] 3-wave composite image: [link to sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov] |

That looks close to our connection line, but its up there, guess we'll have to see its dispersal signature. Hard to keep up with you Hugh when you get rolling, put you and Cesium in a room and would get so much info my head would explode!LOL “One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. Not necessarily visible right now, more so yesterday and the day prior. Seems I've seen the likes of them in the past as well. I can post up a cropped image if anyone's interested.. It's a black screen Complete with timestamp, no less! It's likely the "lens wipe" (at least, that's how it looks on a video) shutter, if I remember correctly, supposedly used to protect the CCD from exposure to damaging radiation/particles. Either that or the sun went out or things got too interesting for us to see for a few minutes :-) Last Edited by aaronnoraa711 on 09/17/2012 03:11 AM |

aaronnoraa711 User ID: 4394518 United States 09/17/2012 03:45 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | LOL This might explain the closed shutter on SDO, though it really doesn't seem to be of "batten down the hatches" strength, at least enough that should deem SDO to need protection for it's CCD's.
