Quoting: TBar1984 I'm saying NO MASSIVE CME as per this bogus model [link to postimage.org] The New Model looks like this [link to iswa.gsfc.nasa.gov] They don't look quite the same, do they. We have had a couple small CMEs, as usual. We have seen much worse. We get CMEs all the time, and nothing happens. Look at the latest model here [link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] Not much there is there? Look at the images, It's not that difficult [link to stereo.gsfc.nasa.gov] I'm done, you will see what happens shortly. I'm not even going to wait. I'm going to caulk this up as another success. It is pretty obvious when you look at the new model [link to iswa.gsfc.nasa.gov] TheTHINGiDONTgetIShowCANsomethingTHATisEARTHfacingPRODUCEsomethingTHATtravelsINtheCOMPLETEoppositeDIRECTION?? We had a small CME on this side, the large one was on the other side. It's pretty clear isn't it? [link to iswa.gsfc.nasa.gov] The small one isn't even registering on that model, which is the same model as this one [link to postimage.org] Check it out, it's the same model. The forecast is for a G2 event here on Earth, not impressive at all [link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] But you can keep dreaming of catastrophes all you want. Bye now. Listen Tbar - There is no reason to be so Fucking ugly toward posters here who are mostly just interested in Solar activity and the effects this events can have for us back here on our Planet Earth, theres' really no need what-so-ever for your blatant disrespect. Also, you come in here treating everyone you have spoke with as if they are just interested in the potential Doom, sorry brother but you got the wrong thread for that - The majority of posters in here are Solar watchers with a active interest in learning about how it is that our own Star works so please, have a little modicum of respect if you can. One more thing, your preoccupation with 'winning' is a horribly ugly trait. A little decorum would'nt go a-miss. Thats' all I got to say,ok? madajs User ID: 24321898 Canada 09/30/2012 08:49 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Neato, catching up on the thread see we had an M flare, an LDE C flare, and the arrival of our CME's sudden impulse. Bz starting to go wonky and density on the rise [link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] Btw Spittin' the last of your CME's is currently on the "one at a time" simulation [link to iswa.ccmc.gsfc.nasa.gov] It does look like the edge of it will hit Earth so the geoeffective "catch all" model should add it to it's display eventually. I believe the previous earth directed activity was either too small or got vacuumed up by the big halo CME, as geoeffective enlil generally shows all significant geoeffective CMEs during a time period (eventually, it is slow to update). Getting my popcorn out and ready to check in on this CME throughout the day! :) Last Edited by madajs on 09/30/2012 08:53 AM And always, he fought the temptation to choose a clear, safe course, warning: "That path leads ever down into stagnation." |

I'm puzzled about what really happened with the CME that looked so huge from the 28th, after all the input - was the model wrong? I realize from reading this thread everyday that there are glitches but that would've been a BIG glitch! :-) I take it from the updates that the model was accurate and we are feeling the impacts now? I'm a newbie, so forgive the kindergarten questions! |

aaronnoraa711 User ID: 4394518 United States 09/30/2012 10:05 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Some useful links for the next 24-48 hours for all the solar sluts ;-) [link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] - ACE 2 hour solar wind/magnetic plasma SWEPAM [link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] - USAF 1 and 4 hour prediction/current observed KP index [link to mms.rice.edu] - Simple to read, green/yellow/red dial format, real-time solar wind data with measured and derived figures. Cake. [link to sprg.ssl.berkeley.edu] - Real time DST storm level on a cute meter. [link to pixie.spasci.com] - Real time magnetopause and bow shock model (a different one than I usually see linked here) [link to solar.uleth.ca] - Hourly auroral activity plots, including an ultra useful "visible auroral plot", as the usual blue/yellow/red plot does not make it clear where the visible boundary actually exists. [link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] - SWPC real time monitor displays. [link to hfspectrum.net] - Awesome high frequency RF 1-30 MHz spectrum monitor with instant audio feed on any chosen frequency. Sort of like the HAARP RF waterfall chart but much, much higher resolution and you get to hear it to boot :o) Fun listening to the interference during space weather turbulence! [link to iswa.gsfc.nasa.gov:8080] - Link for the latest model run of the iswa magnetopause position sim.. a long watch to get to all the way through it to the current time but no need to set any time frame. [link to www.ssd.noaa.gov] - Satellite operations bulletin, lists up to date standby/malfunctioning/feed loss information along with a statement relating to known reason for said states + lists satellites returning back to service. There's more but these seem to cover most of the bases, hope this helps :o) btw 32mb SDO FITS images rule! |
