Check out the streamer at 06:17, something hit hard on the mag !!! Happy to say it did very well hf [link to iswa.gsfc.nasa.gov:8080]

Since my pc crashed, I've only used Solar soft for a list of most recent flares, and I guess they have shut down or something, anyone have one of those other links that I have long since lost ??
 Quoting: TS66

[link to sdowww.lmsal.com] - Only source for current data 32mb raw uncompressed level-0 FITS images for all SDO wavelengths, plus the usual 1 & 4k JPEGs.

[link to umbra.gsfc.nasa.gov] - Another SDO source but they use different color gradients than the usual (sometimes with a huge benefit in visible detail) plus HINODE and SOLIS images.

[link to proba2.oma.be] - high quality PNG SWAP/PROBA 171 images.

[link to sdodata.oma.be] - Secondary, backup use SDO data source for when NASA servers are down (LMSAL, UMBRA/SDAC and SDO homepage sometimes all go offline at once)

Re: SOLAR WATCH * Huge X8.2 Flare Sept. 10, 2017! (Updated Daily)
For the record, the M-flare (and several C-flares) was attributed to new active region AR1583.

At midnight UTC the visible solar disk had 12 spotted active regions (in 2K resolution SDO images).

Region 11575 [N07W73] was quiet and stable. The flares that SWPC attributes to this region occurred in AR 11583.
Region 11577 [N08W55] produced a few minor C flares and appears less interesting than a day ago.
Region 11579 [S10E07] was quiet and stable.
Region 11580 [N18E17] was quiet and stable.
Region 11582 [S12E29] was quiet and stable.
New region 11583 [N12W77] emerged on September 27 and was noticed by SWPC two days later. The group developed slowly and was the most active region on the visible disk producing 5 minor C flares.

[link to www.solen.info]

Also check on Solar Monitor and click on events for SWPC flare list (updated every 30 mins.):

[link to www.solarmonitor.org]

I must say I'm disappointed that with pages of chatter here, no one noticed that new active regions had formed. And only one poster noticed the arrival of the CME. Tsk,tsk, tsk. Please stop worrying about the Total Vertical Electron Count, it's pretty much meaningless except to HAM radio operators anyway.

Good morning Nin hf

I'm waiting for smilies to upload. These filament eruptions seem more concerning than actual flares from Sunspots lately.

Each eruption seems to fuel the filaments a little more in these two very active regions,

:93012am: :93012am2:

And as always they are far more impressive when watched on (or until the smilies are approved)

Hello, NINzhf, it looks like our CME is a big dud, unless there's a denser wave coming in later. Barely a ripple in the space weather. Maybe the X-37b is chemtrailing the solar system now, haha. Even NOAA and NASA predicted a stronger event. So far Kp=3 QUIET. I hope we see a little action as the day unfolds.

I'm only aware of one noteworthy CME. All three of NASA's prediction times have passed. And the STEREO HI2 slideshow displayed a wave that has definitely gone by Earth and NOAA posted the Sudden Impulse at 11:38utc. Sometimes we see more action on the back end of the plasma. I suspect that the NASA density cone model was greatly exaggerated...we'll see.

Also, you come in here treating everyone you have spoke with as if they are just interested in the potential Doom, sorry brother but you got the wrong thread for that - The majority of posters in here are Solar watchers with a active interest in learning about how it is that our own Star works so please, have a little modicum of respect if you can.

There was a Pinned thread about a "Big One" inbound the other day. It wasn't exactly correct was it? I said it was a small one and backed it up with data. Looks like I was correct...again. Here is the best indicator, check the chart here [link to satdat.ngdc.noaa.gov] If there was a large one that chart would look much different. There is one coming, and I don't think it has arrived yet. It won't be long though. It will probably be about what the forecast is calling for, a G2 [link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] . Not the pinned "BIG ONE", which was the whole point of my postings. Sorry if you don't like someone else's analysis.

"CME IMPACT: A coronal mass ejection hit Earth's magnetic field on Sept. 30th at 10:25 UT. The impact was weak, lifting the solar wind speed around Earth barely above 300 km/s. Nevertheless, auroras are possible around the Arctic Circle as Earth's magnetic field reverberates from the impact.

The CME was propelled into space on Sept. 28th by an eruption of sunspot AR1577. The Solar and Heliospheric Observatory caught the cloud expanding toward Earth at 2.2 million mph:

Although the initial impact was weak, a geomagnetic storm could develop in the wake of the CME. Keep an eye on the Realtime Photo Gallery for signs of polar lights."

Well said 66, you are right...If he knows it all, he should make his own thread and educate the masses to his way of truth..but he won't do that, he wouldn't get any followers due to his arrogance and name calling....Because of this, he has no option but to feel special by coming into long established threads like this and result in name calling to people who have contributed more than he ever would...

Sad really that he has to resort in bashing Shadasonic and Spittin' in the way he has....No wonder he has haters...

Some useful links for the next 24-48 hours for all the solar sluts ;-)

[link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] - ACE 2 hour solar wind/magnetic plasma SWEPAM

[link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] - USAF 1 and 4 hour prediction/current observed KP index

[link to mms.rice.edu] - Simple to read, green/yellow/red dial format, real-time solar wind data with measured and derived figures. Cake.

[link to sprg.ssl.berkeley.edu] - Real time DST storm level on a cute meter.

[link to pixie.spasci.com] - Real time magnetopause and bow shock model (a different one than I usually see linked here)

[link to solar.uleth.ca] - Hourly auroral activity plots, including an ultra useful "visible auroral plot", as the usual blue/yellow/red plot does not make it clear where the visible boundary actually exists.

[link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] - SWPC real time monitor displays.

[link to hfspectrum.net] - Awesome high frequency RF 1-30 MHz spectrum monitor with instant audio feed on any chosen frequency. Sort of like the HAARP RF waterfall chart but much, much higher resolution and you get to hear it to boot :o) Fun listening to the interference during space weather turbulence!

[link to iswa.gsfc.nasa.gov:8080] - Link for the latest model run of the iswa magnetopause position sim.. a long watch to get to all the way through it to the current time but no need to set any time frame.

[link to www.ssd.noaa.gov] - Satellite operations bulletin, lists up to date standby/malfunctioning/feed loss information along with a statement relating to known reason for said states + lists satellites returning back to service.

There's more but these seem to cover most of the bases, hope this helps :o)

btw 32mb SDO FITS images rule!

Re: SOLAR WATCH * Huge X8.2 Flare Sept. 10, 2017! (Updated Daily)
Good Morning everyone! :)
