My guess would be a star off in space which is shedding its layers. A supernova/hypernova explosion or several of both. This is mabie the reminants of what we are entering right now. If this is the case then im betting it will make the transfer of the suns energy easyer to travel through space, much like a cme following a cme.

Ice cores show a corrilation between these events. They have a strong source of cosmic dust, I cant remember the name of this element.
