A small Filament eruption of some kind from 1598 [link to halpha.nso.edu] in the Mid-South.

Not much really.

Here in 94 Angstroms(Extreme UV/Soft X-ray) [link to sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov] and composite image [link to sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov] The Red Colour you see on images in that composite are related to more violent Temps./Events.

Well actually, I'm watching this storm come up the coast, my oldest son is vacationing in Atlantic Beach, NJ (right on the beach)and have another one in school on the coast of Rhode Island, friends and family in Long Island .... it's taking a precedence at this point I guess.

Later this morning we're helping some friends move, and hopefully releasing some energy and anxiety will = a good sleep tonight too

Good morning everyone, SC that smilie was pretty good, made me LOL.

TS the storm has slowly by us here in SE FL but the last 2 days its been crazy. Not dangerous as it was far off shore, but a wind event for about 36 hours and its still whipping around every so often. The waves were in the 11-12 foot range yesterday when we are normally about 1 foot range.

The gusts were wild, I drove over the bridge to the barrier island to check out the ocean and felt my car wanting to take flight!! Tell your kids to be safe and take warnings seriously, Sandy has some power behind her!

Coronal Mass Ejection
A bright Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) is now visible in the latest STEREO Ahead COR2 images. The plasma cloud looks like it might be Earth directed. With no Solar Flares detected, this may have been the result of a prominence eruption. More information to follow.

these are just the 'local' eruptions
there were many more all over the world, a couple with a VEI of 6

made me wonder if there was a maunder minimum because no one could actually observe the sun during this period?
