BREAKING NEWS: Atmosphere is NOT collapsing!

This old story from 2010 even states in the opening sentence that the Thermosphere (Ionosphere) is REBOUNDING.

The collapse happened during the deep solar minimum of 2008-2009—a fact which comes as little surprise to researchers. The thermosphere always cools and contracts when solar activity is low. In this case, however, the magnitude of the collapse was two to three times greater than low solar activity could explain.

Translation: “We’re going to need a lot more funding between now and the time I retire in order to study this and improve our understanding. Otherwise our next press release will be even scarier.”

There's an awful lot of universe out there which NASA does not understand. However, lobbying for grants and more funding is something they DO understand. Don't be alarmed by scary headlines such as "Giant breach in magnetosphere"; "Atmosphere collapsing"; "Tenth Planet Found"; etc., etc. These stories are put into the media to grab headlines for scientists to draw attention to their otherwise boring research and to garner future funding.

This particular story came out of the CO2 global warmist camp at NASA. Since the Space Shuttle was winding down, NASA found the politicians more eager to fund climate research. So please read past the scary headlines and do some boring fact-checking. These stories are deliberately exaggerated for the Doom-clamoring public to squeal and squirm a few more dollars out of their children's inheritance for Uncle Scam to play with.

Ring Current getting a little close [link to ccmc.gsfc.nasa.gov] looks like it's starting to 'bleed' in,all good though,I see this quite often - Just a collapsing VA Belt.

Encircling the equatorial region of the Earth, and extending to latitudes nearly as far as the Arctic Circle, the Van Allen belts form two, nested donuts of particles. I was hoping for AR1610 & 1611 to get into the game by now. AR1614 also looks like it might be a winner. AR1611 has been sparking a little lately and it's directly Earth-facing with an embedded filament, too.

They had another explosion there earlier today. My sister lives close to there.

The video is dead,I posted it before seeing it - was this the old bunker that blew up next to a Train Track last Month or was this a separate event altogether!?

I did mention Sol hasn't appreciated going Below the B5(ish)level for the last 20(odd)Hours before firing another One back up again,and it appears to have held true again [link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] Watch and see if the correlation um,correlates : )
