Does anyone have any explanation as to the amount of solar fillaments that are comming out or off the sun?

If you look at it logically then this can only be the signs of the sun expanding? Like peeling layers off a fruit.
I know how solar fillaments work it's just the amount that are around the sun seems to suggest something bizzare.
