You, too? I've been trying reconstruct my hard-drive for 2 days now. Lost hundreds of bookmarks. Not to be "conspiratorial" but recall that GLP servers kept going down last weekend. I wonder if we're under attack from TPTSB. Well, I'll piece everything back together eventually...it is a pisser, however.

All the diagnostics came back clean, I couldn't find a good reason for it, nothing to repair, just would not go past startup, even in safe mode. Gave up and did a full recovery.

Maybe I should think about a second pc for GLP ??

Well, I'm sad to say that AR1620 never reached X-class as I predicted(sob). But we may see a good-bye CME and maybe a few extra protons, hehe.

The Sun-Earth connection is in proximity to the SW limb today, so any bigtime eruptions could give us a proton event or SEP.

Ok,so it is definitely a signature [link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] <--- 7 Day Plot,and the 3 Day [link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] I think it began just over 24 Hours after our Sun entered Ophiuchus,but officially in Scorpios,in Scorpios there is the Messier Object 4(M4)and within that a Millisecond Pulsar with a rate 10 Times faster than the Crab Nebula at 3 Milliseconds(3000 Times a Second)

But it is most probably just the Sun,afterall : )

This might be a dumb question, but is it common for it to have static like that? Or is this what you are commenting on?

To be honest with you Mission,I don't watch these Protons/Proton Graphs and that was my first question - 'Is it Common' - So that is why I pulled up the 3 Day and 7 Day graphs to see if it was a spike and it is,from where I am not sure but I assume it is due to a pick-up in Solar activity.

But it may not,so I mentioned the Millisecond Pulsar.

As far as I know Jupiter is a strong radio source but not Protons,unless something is kicking inside Him that is:fear:

I don't know if perhaps it could be(Jupiter)modulating any received Solar Energetic Particles(Jupiter is known to respond to Solar Storms apparently,esp,a modulating factor is which Moons are passing through which part of Jupiters Magnetotail/Sphere - but all in all,I couldn't say whether this is Jupiter related,I'd say it's Solar first but you never know.

Anyhoo',here is a little about Jupiter and it's output -

' Jupiter's sporadic radio emissions, first noted in 1955, can at times be very intense. In fact, they are exceeded in intensity only by strong solar radio bursts. Detectable in the short-wave radio band from 10 to 25 MHz, Jovian signals are an ideal source for a first project in radio astronomy.

Using only a dipole antenna and a communications receiver for audible monitoring, the equipment requirements are minimal. The key to success lies in knowing when to listen.

Particles spiralling along field lines in Jupiter's magnetosphere radiate electromagnetic energy as cyclotron and synchrotron emissions. Some of these sources correlate with certain rotational alignments of the Jovian magnetic field while others are associated with both the alignment of the magnetic field and the position of the moon Io as seen from the Earth. Io's motion through the Jovian magnetosphere appears to influence both the intensity and the predictability of the emission. The most intense and therefore the most suitable source for amateur observation is the Io-dependent source Io-B.
