SOLAR WATCH * Huge X8.2 Flare Sept. 10, 2017! (Updated Daily) | |
shenue User ID: 5263313 United States 12/22/2012 08:36 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Solarsoft/SDO movie of latest C1.9 flare: Quoting: Hugh M Eye [link to sdowww.lmsal.com] I noticed this yesterday but it didn't strike me what a milestone this is for the STEREO Mission. Earth can now be seen in the HI1-B images as the STEREO craft orbit further around the back side of the Sun. SOHO Pick of the Week: [link to sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov] For those not familiar with it, here's a primer on the field-of-view of the STEREO Imaging instruments: [link to stereo.gsfc.nasa.gov] And this one from the NASA website: [link to www.nasa.gov] NASA also has a video showing the future orbits of both STEREO probes from 2011-2019: [link to www.nasa.gov] I notice in the present configuration it's getting harder to judge the direction of CMEs on the coronagraph images. It's a pity they couldn't freeze them in orbit where they'll do the most good (ie., 90 degree angles from the SOHO FOV).Where is STEREO?- [link to stereo-ssc.nascom.nasa.gov] That's exactly what I've been wondering about since I found out that the Stereos have both been moving farther around behind the sun. I just learned about this a few weeks ago and have been wondering about being able to judge the CMEs' direction as this progresses. Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become your character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 30537107 United States 12/22/2012 08:42 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There is a culmination of information throughout the ages that point to this time, including, but not limited to the Mayan prophecies. Any one individual here or anywhere that claim they know more than the consensus of all human knowledge, and is not open to the possibilities, are in fact the truly doomed. I don't know Sea Punk other than I see him on this and other threads telling everyone just how stupid he believes they are, no links, data or proof. No historical information nor knowledge support his claims here, and because of this should be simply ignored until he can produce some evidence. I don't believe any of us here base fact on any one man's opinion, and if they do, shame on them. Hugh is classic left brained, and is an asset to this thread, however Hugh, not all of us are confined to "the data" as presented to us. History tells us "data and fact" are often skewed out of error or to the benefit of those that control us, and more than often only tell one side of the story. You will tell me the dimensions of the sun, another will tell me what it looks like, and another will tell me how it makes them feel. All relevant my friend to the big picture. This galactic alignment is proven science, one that the Mayans were aware of 5,000 years ago, why in the world would we not at least give this fact some consideration, and be open to the implications of which NONE of us here are qualified to dismiss ??? This is simply a big deal, whether we choose to acknowledge it or not. Therefore we must be open to all possibility. We are better than this. Good Morning Sunnies !!! Take the time and check out the sun's Eastern limb ..... Thanks for the heads up Nin |

The valency of its magnetic signature is looking very promising as the convective flow seems to have switched to a more universal(sun collective)flow. The sun seems to be getting back to its 'normal' pattern of energy flow, but its early. We need to see how this plays out in the next week or so. (Check out the paper at the Physics ArXiv site.) But we still don't know how the solar magnetic field affects (and is affected by) the comet as it moves through. All of that stuff coming off the comet makes the field shake, can we learn something from that? The brightness of the comet debris comes from running into electrons in the corona. Can we learn about the number of electrons in the corona? From Thunderbolts: "The local cloud and G cloud are a twisted pair. The sun is near the center and traveling nearly axially. The average particle in the Local cloud is more distant from the central axis, and so the cloud has a more azimuthal component. This is why we don't see are sun moving with the local cloud, but instead see them moving at nearly right angles." (snip) (snip) " It is along the interacting ‘edges’ (double-layers) of these tenuous “clouds” in the local interstellar medium – now understood as having their integrity from magnetic fields - that we should find filamentation (currents). The “transition zone” mentioned in the above extract is ripe for this area and thus an axis. As of right now I suspect some form of currents, might also be there."(snip) [link to www.thunderbolts.info] |
