NOAA has numbered the fast-growing AR in the SE equatorial region #1663. They waited for the other spot in the west to disappear thereby saving a number. Two newer regions are emerging in the north. One is at high latitude in the west and one nearer the equator in the east. If these two persist we may have #'s 1664 & 65 by tonight (subject to NOAA's whim, of course).
