Not sure what to make of this,if it is a co-object then that would be very interesting,I don't know if the Uploader has checked to make sure it is not a Galaxy,She has cross referenced it with local Stars and none fit the image - It looks to me like they are sharing the same Coma and the Object 'behind' ISON almost looks like it has a tail like bridge/connection to the main body of ISON toward the 'bottom' of the Coma...Hmmm?

Just a reminder, those rapid fluctuations in the chart don't actually indicate changes in strength, they are due to cyclical variation in the perspective of the Sun when viewed from Earth, due to our orbit and the Sun's axial tilt.

Most of the "up and down" movement in Leif's chart is not an actual change in polar strength, but rather simply an indication of the movement of Earth around the Sun, and the changing perspectives that that combined with the Sun's axial tilt offers us.

"The Sun's rotation axis is tilted by about 7.25 degrees from the axis of the Earth's orbit so we see more of the Sun's north pole in September of each year and more of its south pole in March." [link to solarscience.msfc.nasa.gov]

So you have to look for major deviations from the previous repeating cycle to see actual changes in the strength. It's rather hard to explain, but I hope you follow me here.

With that in mind, the North pole hasn't actually quite flipped yet, as you can see on the chart the polemost readings are still barely hovering in negative polarity. But from the context of previous "rotations", we can see that the polemost region is weakening each pass, so this next pass of the Sun's northern polemost region may indeed confirm a flip.

If anyone needs further clarification of how to read the chart just let me know... I'm glad people are using it it's a lovely chart... just a little confusing by necessity.

Your 2007 and Now comparison images have one obvious,important difference - No Regions(spare one)on the 2007 capture and a fair bit more on the Now image..no Active Regions means less Fields.

It's doing something, that's for sure.

It is for sure, but I believe its going into a small dormant stage with cyclic magnetic varience and very anamalous electric valencies. There's a definite problem and some mystery hanging issues but in no way a red giant happening. I would imagine a binary emergence over a less than middle age sun dying. Just my two cents.

The main changes to the Sun haven't happened yet. I remember last year someone said when Mercury's orbit changes speed, that is one of the biggest signs that the Sun will start to expand..... So, Mercury has sped up, now we're just waiting for TSHTF to happen in the days and weeks ahead....

Yes, but recently it was seen to speed up so much that it might take only around 60-70+ days to complete an orbit around the Sun....

Anyway, at a diameter of less than 5,000 kms(if I am not mistaken), Mercury does not pose any gravitational threat unless if it passes less than 0.05 AUs away from Earth, less than 7.5 million kms away from Earth.....

I do Geo, but it literally accelerated at one point. Perhaps ISWA error.
