AR1670 was decaying before it went beyond the limb. I think you're looking at the massive plage region which was remnants of megaspot 1654. I was closely watching that regions return (2 weeks ago) because it was so bright on the EUVI images and when it came over there wasn't much left in the way of spots. Although the plage and loops were enormous, its spots vanished and it went away without a flicker or flare. Megaspot 1654- :1/10-1654: After watching the miracle of 78, I'm still excited to see what 70 may or may not morph into on the far side.  |
