I think we can look forward to yet more Magneto-Fraggle as the Magnetometer has yet to bottom out [link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] quite impressive all things considered.

The geomagnetic field is expected to be quiet on February 25-28' [link to www.solen.info] Hoo.k. : )

On this talk of 71 being the culprit for enhanced X-Rays - Is it not 1678 that just rotated the limb a few Days back that we can see here [link to sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov] broiling the lower Corona above it that is the true culprit!?

Anyhoo',I've not long been back in after spending the Afternoon in Hospital(I'm ok)and I am catching up on the Days activity - Plenty to be seen on EUVI [link to stereo.gsfc.nasa.gov] [link to stereo.gsfc.nasa.gov] Action-aggaBaggaboo.

I don't see any geomagnetic disturbance whatsoever. The planetary K-index is at 1=quiet:

Even the polar regions look quiet now:

ACE shows nominal wind velocity with some minor proton variations:

When nothing happens folks start imagining things IMO.

So you don't see the CME on HI2 then Hugh?

Or the rising nT on the Magnetometer [link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] that looks like action to me,wait for the drop.

Also the ACE Data when fed into the Mag. Sim. is showing this [link to ccmc.gsfc.nasa.gov] .

I thought I'd post this LPAC presentation on 'Le Grande Minimum' - I usually cannot stand these folks and to be honest I am surprised they managed to get all the way through without once mentioning 'Glass-Steagall'

The geomagnetic (Kp) indices gave gone from 0 to 1 today. If you want to call that a 'storm' or a 'disturbance' be my guest, but we're not even halfway to 'unsettled' yet. Geospace has been so quiet that folks seem to forget what a G3 storm looks like. I wouldn't even call this a hiccup.

I have to be honest, the idea of enduring a mini ice age for the rest of my years, isn't all that appealing !!

I'm following Madajas train of theory right now, anticipating some serious solar action, and expansion of the atmosphere.

My reason being only, there was far more activity a year prior to the flip (whether it has actually happened or not yet), and there is no reason to believe we won't experience more on our way down slope to our minimum.

Also, I'd certainly LIKE to see more before we hit the inevitable spotless days. Who knows if we will ever manage to see, economically or otherwise, the next max.

I did say 'Wait for the drop'.

I also didn't say we were Storming,Geo Storming is'nt a storm until at least a 4 - I pointed out the rise on the Magnetometer and the simulation of the data on the ccmc link as well as the splodge on HI and why there is a slight disturbance,slight.

Sheesh kebab Hugh - Don't muddle my posts with the posts of others - simply posted what I am seeing and the potential reason,no storming claimed.

Those CMEs' though not the 'punchy' type,are very cool looking,each one looked like a large,slow peeling away of sections of the Corona,very nice : )

I often have to refer to that when you guys get discussing the fine details, I'm a big picture person.
