No... they said cold and clear in the forecast, but when went out after dark we couldn't even see stars. Very disappointing, but doing well otherwise , well except for the old and grumpy thing. Here's the latest fro NOAA- Solar Wind .Forecast... Solar wind speeds are expected to be slightly enhanced on days 1-2 (19-20 Mar) as effects of the 15 March CME continue to wane and as a negative-polarity coronal hole high speed stream (CH HSS) arrives. Solar wind speeds are expected to fluctuate around 400-500 km/s during this period with a slight increase to Bt as the CH HSS arrives. An increase in both solar wind speed and IMF Bt is likely on day three (21 Mar) as possible CME effects are expected from the arrival of both 17 March filament eruptions. Geospace .24 hr Summary... The geomagnetic field has been at predominantly quiet levels for the past 24 hours. .Forecast... The geomagnetic field is expected to be at mostly quiet to unsettled levels for days 1-2 (19-20 Mar) as CME effects diminish and a CH HSS becomes geoeffective. An increase to quiet to unsettled levels is likely on day 3 (21 Mar), with a chance for active conditions, as the two CMEs from the 17 March filament eruptions become geoeffective.
