spaceweather is trying to say today that 1171 is a big but quiet sunspot but takeing a look at the bradford flare monitor, the % has increased over the last hour [ link to spaceweather.inf.brad.ac.uk] Hello SolStar1 - that would be partly because background X-rays went up very quickly from flat(ish)B3.2< to B5.1 and are hanging there [ link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] maybe..but really,given its' size and the Field connections,something may happen...(playing it safe) have you seen the Massive piled arch of Prominence Plasmas off the Eastern limb NiNzicle [ link to halpha.nso.edu] !? (look closely...see!)   nope, bradford does no go by Xrays it determines the % based on magnetic complexity oh i have been watching SDO like a hawk lots of smaller things going on all over the earth facing side that could lead to an event that prominance being one of them look at sdo through all the filters for the last 24hrs worth there is some nice activity going on within the centers of the CH's as well
