Hello GM,I think I have it Isolated to just beyond the Western limb,in the North [link to stereo.gsfc.nasa.gov] looks like it to me.

I'm getting word the sun is already electrically responding to comet ISON.

It is for sure a biggun'!

That seems to be where the good majority of Sols Magnetism seems to be hiding out,lol,as the rest on the disk are really not much.

This Flare,was more than likely a Hyder Flare,certainly looked like it on EUVI and its other Signatures.

Pretty cool,but was it a Flare 'Flare'..!?

we must remember people write the code for the sims and we "people" are not perfect so the code is not. then there is the whole computer thing.....we all know how well they can perform day in and day out......

Good morning, 66 and peeps. GLP went down for me last night again. This is now becoming a daily (nightly) occurrence. After trying to post for more than hour, I gave up and went to bed. I was surprised to see everybody else was on here. If this keeps up, I'll be having a difficult time keeping up with this thread. I hope they solve this problem quickly.

Solar Activity

.24 hr Summary...
Solar activity was low. A long-duration C2 x-ray flare occurred at
05/0650 UTC from an area just beyond the east limb. A non-Earth-directed
coronal mass ejection (CME) was associated with this flare. A filament
erupted from the southwest quadrant near S23W39 beginning at around
04/2000 UTC. A slow (approximately 246 km/s), relatively narrow CME was
seen off the west limb following the eruption and is not expected to be
geoeffective. Region 1713 (N09W13, Bxi/beta) showed gradual spot growth
in its leader and intermediate portions as well as some mixed polarities
in its intermediate portion. Region 1711 (S19E03, Cko/beta) produced a
B6 x-ray flare at 05/0352 UTC. It showed no significant changes during
the period and remained the largest region on the visible disk with an
area of approximately 550 millionths.

Here's the SEEDS movie of the filament CME I noticed last night. It seems to be weak but possibly geoeffective. Remember this in 3 days if we get an unexpected bump in solar wind density.

Sun's Magnetic 'Heartbeat' Revealed
A magnetic "solar heartbeat" beats deep in the sun's interior, generating energy that leads to solar flares and sunspots, according to new research.
A new supercomputer simulation, described in the April 4 edition of the journal Science, probes the sun's periodic magnetic field reversals. Every 40 years, according to the model, the sun's zonal magnetic field bands switch their orientation, or polarity.
That cycle is about four times longer than the 11-year sunspot cycle that governs the level of solar activity. Being able to model such a regular, long-term process is remarkable, the scientists said.
