Anonymous Coward User ID: 39793402 United States 05/19/2013 05:49 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | 1745 has now come around the corner so anything further would have more impact on the earth. Since it has currently flat lined in the B level, makes me wonder if we will see any more activity at all in the X-class. Quoting: whiteangel What say you all? More X-flares? M-flares? Going back to sleep? it seems ascending to me... so maiby a big one atached... like x 7 minim double jumping the last.... people are saiyng that what provoked the x were meteors crash... in too the Sun... also... with images. are this images fake? I say with this whole cycle being atypical as it is it will flatline just like it has in the past during this cycle. As a good one blasts off just over the east limb it dies down when facing us. Then right at that sweet spot just before the west limb, boom. Just like clockwork. Ive been lurking for way toooo long to know that this will be the case. If you have been here any amount of time you know the truth I speak of. Hate to be the one keep us grounded. With that being said I do have [link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] in its own window and am checking it every 5 or so. Or then again I could be wrong... I called this and I think it will still hold true |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 27760252 United States 05/19/2013 06:36 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Eastern limb is firing. Quoting: whiteangel Western limb is firing. And the middle is taking a snooze! is anyone here surprised????? that is the -50 degrees +50 degrees solar safe zone! going on 1 year now! Not at all. Pure sarcasm! The eastern limb is firing in the current direction of incoming Ison, which is now inside the orbit Jupiter and heading towards the Sun. I don't know...maybe Ison is packing photon laser blasters. |

Hugh M Eye User ID: 39479530 United States 05/19/2013 08:46 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | "Why is this density spike seen at SOHO not reflected in the ACE data???" Quoting: FrenchyMary Thats exactly what I was wondering ....which data seems correct to you then? Well CMEs aren't of a uniform consistency; they're irregular and clumpy. So I suppose it's conceivable that each spacecraft is observing different localized conditions. That being said, it's unusual to see that big a difference as they are both in L1 orbit about a million mile toward the sun from Earth. ACE Mission- The satellite incorporates a real-time solar wind system that will provide around-the-clock coverage of interplanetary conditions that affect Earth. This is especially of benefit to those living at high northern and southern latitudes, because Earth's magnetic field is such that a coronal mass ejection can more easily disrupt power systems close to the poles. While the ACE can do nothing to prevent this phenomenon from occurring, the satellite can at least provide an hour of warning that a coronal mass ejection may create a magnetic storm. The warning could help minimize and perhaps even eliminate some of the outages. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) will analyze the data and issue forecasts and warnings of solar storms. According to NOAA, it will be possible to issue geomagnetic storm alerts with virtually 100 percent accuracy. [link to www.caltech.edu] ACE caltech homepage: [link to www.srl.caltech.edu] |
