Solar proton event
A solar proton event (or proton storm) occurs when protons emitted by the Sun become accelerated to very high energies either close to the Sun during a solar flare or in interplanetary space by the shocks associated with coronal mass ejections. Besides protons, the events can include other nuclei like helium ions and HZE ions, meaning that the event is sometimes a solar particle event. These high energy protons and ions cause several effects. They can penetrate the Earth's magnetic field and cause ionization in the ionosphere. The effect is similar to auroral events, the difference being that electrons and not protons are involved. Energetic solar protons are also a significant radiation hazard to spacecraft and especially astronauts, who can receive large amounts of absorbed dose from the ionizing radiation

Large solar proton event explains 774-775 CE carbon-14 increase

Tree ring records indicate that in 774-775 CE, atmospheric carbon-14 levels increased substantially. Researchers suggest that a solar proton event may have been the cause. In solar proton events, large numbers of high-energy protons are emitted from the Sun, along with other particles. If these particles reach Earth's atmosphere, they ionize the atmosphere and induce nuclear reactions that produce higher levels of carbon-14; the particles also cause chemical reactions that result in depletion of ozone in the ozone layer, allowing harmful ultraviolet radiation to reach the ground.

THIS is why we watch for CMEs more than we should be the flares!!!!
With this proton particle event going on, knowing what it causes from reading what I posted above, NOW is when we should be watching super duper close for a large flare.. that if it ordure's NOW, would effect us a great deal more than it normally would

everyone watch for a large flare event now! cause if there is one, it will flow almost directly in! because of this particle event

if there is, lets say a M5 flare NOW, it would be equivalent to like a X20 hitting
(no way to be exact, but you get the idea)
because this proton event lowers the shields (read the articles I posted above)

and the protons are still rising, and should continue to rise through at least the next 12hrs. we could be looking at a S3 SEP event

to hard to tell just yet, now its a waiting game, and a lot of monitoring of the solar sensor readings we have

I've got a question. If this proton storm isn't from the flare how can the protons reach us this fast from the CME. Being dense in nature this would have to be plasmatic nuceii hittiing us, that should take days with the speed of this CME. Proton absorption is within 8 seconds after the flare, but a storm of this magnitude has to be plasmatic?

At least this is better than NASA's conference back in February when they said that there is absolutely zero risk of any asteroid impact from DA14. The amount of knowledge that NASA does not share is overwhelming.
