I'm sorry there's no 'collapsing atmosphere'. This guy ain't no idiot, he's a deliberate fear-monger. I've ready explained this OLD story from 2010 at least two times. Here's a graphic for ya (keep in mind that we live inside the troposphere and the thermosphere is very hot at the edge of space):

Solarsoft has these flares as coming from newly formed 1780. This kind of breaks the cycle of no flares from earth facing sunspots. We may even see an M or more from it. It will comply, in a day or two with Nin's honeypot of the southwestern limb tho, still possibly geo-effective.

Keep your eyes on the SE limb because we'll soon have two new friends coming over. At least one of these active regions could be a big one.

NOAA Summary & CME Analysis-
.24 hr Summary...
Solar activity was low. Region 1778 (S18W21, Cro/beta) produced a
C1/Sf flare at 30/0918 UTC. Region 1780 (S15E18, Dri/beta) produced a
C2/Sf flare at 30/1647 UTC and a C1/Sf at 30/1633. Region 1780 grew in
areal extent, intermediate spot population, and magnetic complexity.
Intermediate spot growth was also observed in Region 1781 (N19W31,
Dai/beta-gamma). New Region 1783 (N04E58, Bxo/beta) was also numbered
during the period. Three filament eruptions overnight resulted in at
least one potentially Earth-directed coronal mass ejection (CME). The
CME is best seen in STEREO-A COR2 imagery beginning at 30/0209 UTC.
Analysis of available imagery suggested the ejecta was moving at about
300 km/s. Output from the first WSA-ENLIL run suggests arrival at Earth
on 04 July between 18 and 21 UTC. Subsequent model runs will be
accomplished if additional imagery becomes available.

.Forecast...
Solar activity is expected to be very low throughout the period (01 - 03
Jul) with a chance for C-class flares and a slight chance for an
isolated M-class (R1-Minor) flares.

.....Just for laughs....I noticed this goof-up on Spaceweather.com today, hahaha....

"EARTH-DIRECTED CME: As the current spate of geomagnetic storming subsides, more storms could be in the offing. A coronal mass ejection (CME), pictured below, is expected to deliver a glancing blow to Earth's magnetic field late on June 30th or early on July 31st."

I knew one of those prominent plasma flappers would get us.

Somethings very off, more than just the 14 months of earthside dying SS. We're in somewhat of an overhaul, its a complete symbiotic energy relationship. I'm not spouting new age rhetoric or confused doomsday crap. Something new is cycling and its a good change I believe.

My side of things has gotten way beyond interesting. This is off topic so I apologize. We're seeing disease in plants and trees that are completely new. Rust pathogens in previous disease free subjects, and susceptible varieties clean as a whistle. This is only one pathogenic fungus out of many that are sharing these strange anomalytical pressures. We have new beetles in Missouri that are decimating particular plants, bacterial disorders are higher than ever recorded.Of course we're breaking climate records with each new cycle, so its hard to postulate on the real true cause. 16 months of drought followed by a rainy season putting us in 18" above normal rainfall. We are in the new norm of speculative disorder, on an ever increasing rampant decline of normalcy.
I believe anything is possible, we truly are children speculating on things that have no true information given.
