The filament was very very skinny and in between polarities.

More of a corona event.

Looks more like the entire filament split in two vertically.

This is more of a medical question. I do not burn as well and am pale when I do not get sunlight. When exposed to sun my skin can get darker than most dark skinned people without burning. If I am exposed to certain intense sunlight for an extreme period at first, before a base tan... I will burn slightly. After the base tan I am fine without sunscreen. In the winter I turn pale again. I do not wear sunscreen, I rarely use soap or deodorant and my natural scent is neutral. I have been exposed to the sun in the middle east, med and in australia without problems. I grew up with the sun perhaps got conditioned to it... my family and community are similar but to a lesser extent. Hope this helps)

and none of the sites showed it.

Probably was a very minor impact.

you ever go out driving and its a sunny day and all of a sudden a cloud is over head and its so thick and big it makes like a shadow on the ground and everything around you goes dark for a bit as the cloud passes over?

this example is what happened here yesterday what I 'felt' just like that. then the radio went static for a few and then came back on....

Although the SOHO data is lagging as usual, I can't see how this could possibly miss us. I suspect NOAA will need "further analysis" to determine geoeffectiveness, LOL. I can't tell the velocity so I'll defer to the paid experts and their supercomputers as to timing. My best guess right now would be arrival about 21:00z on the 12th (+/- 6 hours).

Actually the time-stamp there is just before the filament lifted off and subsequent Hyder flare. Check out the AIA 193 movie here (event begins approx. 14:00utc):

The CME was produced by this event. Again, the North steals the show even though all the 'active" regions are in the south....but one day the south shall rise again, haha.

KUDOS to NOAA! They saw that CME w/o SOHO images analysis (I think they're catching on, hehe)...from their latest update-

.24 hr Summary...
Solar activity was low. Region 1785 (S12W31, Ekc/beta-gamma-delta)
produced occasional C-class flares, the largest of which was a C4 at
08/2219 UTC. Region 1785 maintained a delta magnetic configuration
within its intermediate spots. It also showed minor penumbral decay in
the western half of the region. Region 1787 (S15W09, Eai/beta-gamma)
produced a couple of B9 x-ray flares during the period. It showed no
significant changes and maintained a beta-gamma magnetic configuration.
Region 1784 (S16W76, Axx/alpha) gradually decayed as it approached the
west limb. A 12-degree filament, centered near N26E20, erupted at around
09/1400 UTC. An Earth-directed coronal mass ejection (CME) was
associated with the filament eruption. An analysis of STEREO coronagraph
images indicated a speed of around 400 km/s for this CME.

also, in relation to the next newest explanation, those guys are like a dog on a bone. The "empty space" around the sun is the fuel for the hotter outer layer. I feel like a third grader could figure it out at this point. They have to put their pride aside and work with EU guys to come up with the whole picture. This is just my opinion.
