yah....our jet stream is wacked out.
during the heat wave we had 2 streams and the dominate one was going east to west.

NACREOUS CLOUDS OVER TIERRA DEL FUEGO: On July 24th, about an hour after sunset, Gerardo Connon of Rio Grande city in Tierra del Fuego, Argentina, walked outside and witnessed a rare display of nacreous clouds. The colorful apparition was as bright as the street lights in the city below:

wow this is an event that is rare even in the the way northern and southern parts of our planet.

to see this close to the equator is unheard of!

now this......the list of things i have seen go from WOW, to rare, to having a season, to normal everyday.

let us hope that the fireball over russia does not follow this pattern.....
though i think all the fireballs we have now are possibly part of the cause for these clouds.

Guys...I've been seeing a lot of flashing lights from the north for the past hour. No accompanying thunder, I don't believe that is what it is.

kinda scared, and I ate way too much medicine to be drinking like I am.

somebody in the northeast please confirm so I don't go into full-on panic mode. Earthquake precursor? Fuck idk...just frightened atm

EDIT: Sorry all, I just realized that eventhough this article was part of Yahoo news just yesterday, the actual event was from a couple weeks ago. It has been difficult for me to be here much the last few weeks, so I assume this has probably already been discussed here.

These holes are not uncommon, but their frequency changes with the solar activity cycle. The sun is currently reaching its 11-year peak in activity, known as the solar maximum. Around the time of this peak, the sun's poles switch their magnetism. The number of coronal holes typically decreases leading up to the switch.

if the solar maximum was coming to a close coronal holes become less common,this is not happening is it ???

AC thank you for your response to my post. I know coronal holes are very common. I've seen many of them since joining this thread 2 years ago. We even had the one that looked like 'Big Bird' lol. It was just the size of this one that caught my attention. As far as the grid being fried, I suppose it is a wait and see. I know some people are convinced it will happen and some say it will never happen. The plain truth is that we just don't know. The sun's going to do what the sun's going to do, no matter what anyone thinks will happen. At least, that is my belief.
