Mind if I post it on Gabe's thread, quite a few esoteric thinkers there would love it. This post changed my thinking today, it shattered some walls! Opened doors and made me let it go. I lurk a lot but when thanks need to be given I willingly give it.  Thank YouHiya, silvervega  I appreciate hearing your reactions on this . I'm glad somebody benefitted from my post. I don't usually interject too many personal philosophies here. My beliefs are always shifting and hopefully being refined, and I don't want to derail the scientific observations at hand. But, hey, it's been a slow week flare-wise, and that quote somehow seemed to fit the cosmic meme we touch on often.Sometimes we need to shatter those walls and open secret doors/windows. I've had the unpleasant task of facing my own false-thinking more than once. Wasn't always easy, but I'm freer today because of it. The true dilemma of Man's state requires us to shed many layers of illusions; many of which are not only comforting, but seemingly essential to our self-identity. In the end this self-observation and re-evaluation is liberating and uplifts the Spirit. With Divine Grace we may become attuned to those 'higher spiritual energies'. Judge not, praise God, and love your neighbor: Difficult in practice....but practice makes perfect,eh. |

True Hyders are very rare and Charlie Hyder himself long abandoned his original ideas that led to this type of Flare - Double Ribbon Flares and Filament Eruptions due to ARs do still exist,though word direct from the mouth of Charlie to myself via Dr.Strong is that Hyder Eruptions DO NOT exist,at least as he described them Strange though that they are still very much on the SWPC/NOAA list of types of Flare. I actually disagree with Charlie on this as I have witnessed TRUE Hyder Eruptions here in the past with you guys - these are when the Filament erupts completely independent of any AR instigation - Quote Dr.Strong - 'Because there is no such thing. Charlie Hyder (a friend of mine) gave up using the term 2 decades ago. They are simple eruptive flares. Some still pursist in using the term in the context of spotless flares which is not how Charlie originally coined the term. True spotless flares are rare. PS these flares had spots. They were from region 11800 before it rotated onto the disk' My response - ''True spotless flares are rare' - I hear you..I have noticed that nearly all Filament Flares have at least one AR or a emerging region of Flux somewhere along the zone - but we do clearly see channel eruptions on occasion as well as falling Plasmas causing longer duration Flaring. I think(though you disagree,and Mr. Hyder does also)that we can call a Flare driven mainly by Filamentary Plasmas falling back 'Hyder type eruptions' ' Dr.Strong - 'That is correct, the original hyder flare was called the hot poker model (by Charlie) it was to explain the large amount of chromospheric and cool coronal material exploding up when a flare goes off. Solar activity was at low levels. Region 1817 (S22E22, Dao/beta) produced six C-class flares, the largest was a C8/Sf at 11/2158 UTC. Region 1819 (S20E37, Bxo/beta) produced a C1 at 11/0130 UTC. Both Regions 1817 and 1818 (S08E47, Dao/beta-gamma) exhibited the most change during the past 24 hours with significant growth in the intermediate and trailer portions of their respective regions. Both of these regions also developed some magnetic complexity; an east/west inversion line was apparent in Region 1817 and intermixed magnetic fields were visible within Region 1818. The remaining regions indicated little change. Coronal dimming was observed at approximately 11/2154 UTC in SDO AIA 193 imagery associated with the C8 flare from Region 1817. An analysis of a potential coronal mass ejection from this event is in progress as imagery becomes available.
