curi0sis*SolSis User ID: 46980060 Canada 09/17/2013 12:27 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yo sol'patrol I just came across this fresh Thornews vid on the Colorado flooding, where Thor gives praise to GLP for earthquake and weather coverage, and also features a thread from Luisport from 4min30 to 4min44 "But the plans were on display . . ." "On display? I eventually had to go down to the cellar to find them." "That's the display department." "With a torch." "Ah, well the lights had probably gone." "So had the stairs." "But look, you found the notice, didn't you?" "Yes," said Arthur, "yes I did. It was on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying Beware of the Leopard." -Chapter One, H2G2 |

A REBUTTAL & DEFENSE-Christine, if you wanna lurk, lurk; but please don't be a troll! I wasn't rude or castigating, nor do I have any animosity towards Isis One for her post. I was merely trying to quickly alert the faithful followers of this thread that the cited story is totally bogus info which has been traced back to the disinfo queen Sorcha Faal (known as Sorcha FAIL here at GLP); and has been subsequently picked up by all of the awful pseudo-science YouTubers. If you're a newbie, here's a brief sketch of this parasite of the internet- "Sorcha Faal reports sometimes appear on conspiracy forums such as 'some other forum' and Godlike Productions, often after being republished by other websites (such as the European Union Times). Invariably, the following amusing pattern emerges: it usually takes only a few posts before the forumites identify the source and the author and start piling verbal abuse on the idiot reposting such bullshit and on Sorcha Faal herself, often twisting the name into "such a fail" or some variant thereof. The bad news is that this doesn't stop other forum-dwellers from believing it. Some of the more paranoid conspiracy theorists apparently can't imagine anyone publishing bullshit on the Internet for a mundane reason (such as profit, attention or mental illness) and have developed hilariously unhinged speculations about Sorcha Faal's true identity and motives..." Get the goods here: [link to rationalwiki.org] If you were around for Comet C/2010 X-1 a/k/a ELENIN, the exact same BS was front-page-pinned ad nauseum; ie., Comet was a Brown Dwarf, comet was planet X, comet was maneuvering intelligently-piloted craft, comet had multiple satellites or more alien craft in tow, comet was a harbinger of the Second Coming, etc., etc., etc. I'm sorry I'm not a reader of Miss Manners or a model of political correctness. This is GLP for crying-out-loud, haha. I try to make a point of fact and not saccharin-coat everything for karma points. I'm sorry if I appear too blunt for you, but when I skip around GLP I can't help but think I'm one of the fairest and least-intimidating posters here. I try to do my best at independent research and I call 'em as I see 'em. Take or leave it....I just try to set the record straight. If anyone disagrees w/me, fine. Just please post YOUR research and links so folks can make up their own mind by evaluating the data and the sources of your data. This is the beauty of a forum like this...and my own mind is not made up about many of these subjects. I try to learn something new everyday and, if I have time, share what I've found with the world. Now you've just cost me an hour of my precious time to respond to this uncalled-for attack on me. I haven't even checked on any solar data today; AND I have a mind-blowing NASA conspiracy theory to put out there -which will now have to wait for another day. And that's why I called you a troll. Hugh M Eye User ID: 39479530 United States 09/18/2013 09:34 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | GOBEKLI TEPE-No Laughing Matter......Sirius-ly- Is everyone here familiar with Gobleki Tepe on the Turkish-Syrian border? It is the oldest megalithic structure ever discovered......older than the pyramids, Stonehenge and Moses by thousands of years! Here's some background info: [link to gobeklitepe.info] [link to en.wikipedia.org] [link to www.smithsonianmag.com] An interesting theory has the site associated with the first precessional appearance of the incredibly bright star Sirius in the Northern Hemisphere. The circular stone enclosures known as the temple at Göbekli Tepe in southeastern Turkey remain the oldest of its kind, dating back to around the 10th millennium B.C. But Göbekli Tepe may also be the world's oldest science building. Giulio Magli of the Polytechnic University of Milan hypothesizes it may have been built due to the “birth” of a “new” star; the brightest star and fourth brightest object of the sky, what we call Sirius (Greek for "glowing"). Sirius, which we also call the 'dog star' due to its location in the constellation Canis Major, was obviously not born 12,000 years ago, but Hipparchus would not discover the phenomenon of "precession" until 200 BC, when he compared the equinoxes in his time with older charts and made the connection. Precession at the latitude of Göbekli Tepe would have sent Sirius under the viewing horizon of those in ancient Turkey around 15,000 BC, where it remained unseen again until around 9,300 B.C. To those residents it was a new star appearing for the first time. A fascinating read here: [link to www.science20.com] |
