Looks to be off the NW limb, it was arcing pretty good earlier!
Nice looking CME,flare woulda been more than likely an M with a direct facing release.

Nope, it's C1.4 now. As I said, it's dropping. It's a nice CME though.

Local news showed some great pics of the northern lights here in the Denver Metro area from last night. I sure didn't see them and I looked. Stated there was another chance to see them tonight though not as strong.

Hi, whiteangel, I'm so sorry you missed them. When I was in CO Springs they never seemed to get that far south, but if I recall there's some grasslands state park in the remote NE corner of the state that always gets to see auroras. When I see the Bz dive south on the ACE data or the density spikes up dramatically I think that's a good time to run outside. The substorms flare up often without notice, but many times it's the persistence of the disturbance which fires up the magnetotail later on in the event.

Happy aurora hunting.....I have a good feeling we'll all see some amazing auroras in the next few months (wink wink).

WOW!! O.O sweet, is coming here?

They showed some from the Pawnee National Grasslands that were deep reds, it was so alien looking. Here the reporters stated they thought something was on fire it was so bright. I was out there looking and I am even a little out of town, nada!

Yes, it was a roll maneuver which was scheduled for today (I had to look it up). Evidently SDO maneuvers are essential government services (just like drones and chemtrails, hehe).

I also just noticed that they added ISON to their model. I've never seen them do that for a comet before. Methinks NASA is really feeding some of this ISON hysteria/frenzy, don't you?

Kudos to Isis One (Is--On-? Hmmmm) for bringing ISON up in context of this recent CME!

That C-flare is still going on, over 5 hours now. Glad it was on the limb.

Good catch there GeoStorm. Nice double-ribbon flare, too. I think Sol's cleaning house to get ready for entertaining company for Thanksgiving (ISON). We may see some big active regions and a pole-flip soon as well.
