Looks like interaction between those two regions to me.

Yup, unless this is an electron event, those I like.

That comet is probably what caused the cme, and the interaction I "feel" between the two regions, (mid disc and southeast).

Anybody out there? I'm so excited about that sundiving comet. Anyone double check me yet?

I watched that video and didn't see the sun diving comet until you pointed it out. Wow. Nice find!

Thanks joinca! Just googled it, S0's got it on his news, (I think its the same one), but I bet Spittin Cesium, clued him in to it. I think he is doing some consulting for S0.

wooo, great minds think alike. Also, last night I was messing around with lasco movies, at 14:00 on the 8th, if you step it, you can see a comet coming OUT of the sun as well right in that same region. And I still think two regions intersected to cause this plasma event tonight, triggered by the sundiver. Anyhow, I'm just trying to build my solar analysis chops a bit. Thanks for indulging me.

Excellent link Luv. That is massive, massive energy. Did you notice the filament that erupted initially, off to the east dropped a load of plasma right down into the emerging sunspot on the southeast limb, that moments later resulted in an M flare? Also, the m flare had a jet spew out that made it look like a pulsar. Can a star behave intermittently like a pulsar? Factor in earth's anomalous magnetosphere action and we can see a huge interaction between earth and sun. Maybe earth triggered the flare?

Solar Wind.Forecast...
CME effects are expected to persist during Oct 9 then gradually subside.
Analysis is inconclusive as to whether the current effects are from the
CME associated with the Oct 6 filament eruption or a different,
undetected CME. If they are separate events, then the CME from the
filament eruption on Oct 6 is expected to arrive late on Oct 9. Solar
wind conditions are expected to be influenced beginning on Oct 11 due to
the onset of a coronal hole high-speed stream (CH HSS).

Solar Activity

.24 hr Summary...
Solar activity was moderate (R1-Minor). Region 1865 (S20E73, Dao/beta)
produced an M2 x-ray flare at 09/0148 UTC with associated Type II/IV
radio sweep activity. The region appears to be moderately complex,
particularly in the trailer spot complex, although its proximity to the
limb is hindering a complete analysis. Small B-class and C-class flares
also occurred in Regions 1856 (N07W10, Cao/beta) and 1861 (S13E50,
Bxo/beta). A large filament located near N40E80-N25E30 erupted at about
08/2100 UTC. Complete coronagraph data were not yet available for CME
analysis but the bulk of the resulting ejecta is expected to be directed
mostly away from the Earth to the northeast.

Nice catch there, just a dude. I'd forgotten all about that weirdness. I still have no explanation for it, but it's a very unusual 7-Day plot of the ACE High Energy protons (SIS):

We'll have to wait and see if it happens again and figure out what's causing it.

ISON UPDATE-Speaking of comets, some astronomers are now predicting that ISON will survive perihelion and not disintegrate. I hope they're right because naked-eye comets are fairly rare sights. I think that ISON's survival may be dependent on the sun's level of activity that day....Sol's known to be moody around comets.
