Judging by the ACE proton flux, there's still a chance that our slow-poke, glancing-blow CME from the M6.6 is still on the way. The 1271 km/s speed estimate may have been for the central shock-front rather than for the slower edges headed in our direction. ACE 24-hr. EPAM: [ link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] ACE 6-hr. EPAM: [ link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] ACE 2-hr. Plasma: [ link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] ...Or maybe another 'Halo Miss', lol. Quoting: Hugh M Eye Hello Hugh : ) As with most all CMEs' of late ,no matter how fast, dense or wide,we will have little induced Geostorming due to how fast they are expanding into the Interplanetary Medium - I would expect very little from the CME Imo. Heliospheric Pressure is down 40% remember - [ link to www.youtube.com] The best bet for Geostorming 'these days' will be from CHs/Sector Boundary Crossings/CIRs. Even that last(X Flare)hellacious Velocity CME had very, very, very little effect at Terra...not even a G1 was registered. Still,we watch
