thanks man. i think people really jumped the gun with this without looking too far into it. i mean, the link to see the north and south pole separately are just below the map, but people see what they want to see i guess.

NOTE:
when you UNWRAP a sphere to a FLAT PAGE, the point at the top and bottom of the sphere (the polar regions) have to cover the top and bottom ENTIRE WIDTH of the flat map.

You are ABSOLUTELY right!

On the separate north pole (second link) and south pole (third link) absorption spectra images, absorption at the poles is falsely depicted as being in ranges that are much, much, much lower than the maximal range of absorption, whereas on the "world map" (first link), absorption at the poles is accurately depicted as being in the absolute maximal range!

The information being given on the separate pole images is completely different from the information being given on the world map.

i would say to suggest a pin, but i think a good majority of people who have seen this want doom so, its whatever. thanks for the bumps guys.

Wow... you're one of the first people I met on GLP that actually wanted to learn something and didn't scream doom right away. I'm highly impressed. But, yeah; awesome pointing out the info.

when i first saw the map a couple of hours ago i knew something wasnt right about it. some people were panicking but i had a feeling that maybe it was thrown off by all the recent solar activity. whether or not thats the case, the map shows a big difference if you look. its just that when people want doom they dont want to look for solutions that will take that possibility away. they want to believe that something bad is happening, so if you were to tell them that the world map is off and the poles are fine, youd be called a shill. thats why i posted my own thread about this.

rofl That's true. If you disagree with anyone or say that there currently isn't this type of doom; people instantly call you a shill. But, you're right. It's from the recent solar activity. There was a solar flare that was aimed towards us, but not directly at us and we'll be getting hit by some of the x-rays and protons and probably already are. You can find more info at:

It is because the world map takes into account the poles having to absorb all the global radiation.Not the same as the amount of radiation hitting the poles.It all must filter into the poles.

But i am not a scientist.

The enhanced ionization produced by incoming energetic protons increases the absorption levels in the lower ionosphere and can have the effect of completely blocking all ionospheric radio communications through the polar regions. Such events are known as Polar Cap Absorption events (or PCAs). These events commence and last as long as the energy of incoming protons at approximately greater than 10 MeV (million electron volts) exceeds roughly 10 pfu (pfu = proton flux units = particles·s-1·ster-1·cm-2) at geosynchronous satellite altitudes.
