Can you relate? Sleep Paralysis in your DREAM
Please help.

I have had these types of dreams several times.

I have had lucid dreams before, but these are different..

Sometimes in my dream, I am dreaming. Then I "wake up" and I am experiencing sleep paralysis in the dream. Then I am able to move about, I usually find someone and tell them what I dreamt about, then I wake up "for real." I am then awake in our present known reality.

Someone please help me understand this. It is often coupled with an "alien abduction" dream.

Odd I just had sleep paralysis for the first time a few nights ago and posted about it today
Thread: Something weird happend to me in my sleep...

This did not happen to this instance, but I have had dreams before about myself dreaming and waking up and telling someone about the dream I just had, then waking up in real life....a dream with in a dream...kinda like Inception...

I've had something like that but can't move until I wake up.

In the dream I can't move or talk, I try screaming and nothing.

Re: Can you relate? Sleep Paralysis in your DREAM
I've had this happen, where my mind is awake but I am unable to wake up my body. I have found that if I make several attempts to scream I eventually will and pull my body out of a sleep state.

My doctor told me it's a form of sleep apnea. I guess that's the mainstream explanation for it. I'm not convinced it's as easily explanable as that.

I doubt I have sleep apnea, and doctors seem to tell everyone I know that has sleeping issues that it's that. It's like how they say any kids that have issues in school have ADHD. I don't buy it.

Seems people are having dreams that parallel their own reality lately.

That is normal. It is the brain's defense for the body, so you will not act out your dreams. It happens to everyone, some just wake up before the brain releases the body from paralysis.

Re: Can you relate? Sleep Paralysis in your DREAM
This usually happens when you are having a nightmare. You will try to run and are paralyzed or try and scream but nothing comes out. It is because you are asleep and so freaked by your dream that you in physical reality try and run and/or scream, but since you are asleep you can not run and/or scream, so in your dream you become paralyzed and/or mute. I hope I have explained it alright, I am having trouble articulating today!

I've had nightmares like this my entire life and found the above explanation after wondering WTF that was about and researching it. It makes sense.

Re: Can you relate? Sleep Paralysis in your DREAM
The reason is we have more than one body. If your lucid dreams and OBEs look pale and grey sorts of like and you feel some forces on your body that's ethereal one. If the lucid dreams and OBEs look out of this world colorful and beautiful and you feel yourself as easy as it can be that the inner higher body.

But I am not in a nightmare at the time. I am in my bed seeing my room just as I see it when I am awake. The only reason I scream is because I can not move and it scares me to think I may be paralized. I should be use to it by now though, I've had this happen so many times within the last year.

Relax and enjoy. You cannot move your body cause you're freaking out. Relax and just get up and walk and probably you will look differently on things form then on.

Re: Can you relate? Sleep Paralysis in your DREAM
I once had a bad dream where i was in my room then these spots of dead bugs and rats started appearing in my room. I can usually wake myself up from my dreams if their scaring me so i did this but when i woke up I couldn't move and the infestations were still there. Then i felt something at my feet. I looked and at first it was just a shadowy figure i felt on my toes. I couldn't even open my mouth to scream. I was screaming through a clenched mouth "no, fuck you, go away" then it bent right over my face and let out this horrible howl. Then it slowly disappeared right in front of my eyes and i could move again. I hear you can wake up without all the way waking up sometimes and your it supposed to be in this realm so some witch comes and sits your chest so you cant move anywhere. Supposedly it's a very old story but that's all I know about it.

Re: Can you relate? Sleep Paralysis in your DREAM
A lot of sleep paralysis is the after effects of an abduction. Seriously.

Read this article to learn how to stop them, and see what happens:

When I experience sleep paralysis in my dream I find that I cannot move in my dream. For instance I was dreaming last night and then all of a sudden I found that I was frozen in my dream and I was like "dam they got me again" and then I woke up very terrified. I am not scared when I get sleep paralysis in my dreams, its just that I wake up terrified. I don't know how I can not be terrified in my dream, yet I wake up terrified.

Re: Can you relate? Sleep Paralysis in your DREAM
no cant say i have, and ive experienced SP since birth.
i get it so much im ignoring it becuase there isnt a damn thing i can do to make it stop.
yeah its painful, very painful but its too strong.
when it comes thats it.
and after all of these years i know it wont change or go away.it will sneak up with lightning speed in its own times.
not the breathing technique, not anything works.im finally to tired to try and break free, i have learned to let it have me.
but i look at the bright side, theres no demons or hags or aliens involved in mine just the whole body pain and going into that black hole.
and mine happens as im falling asleep, NOT waking up.

OP do U still fight against the SP?

Re: Can you relate? Sleep Paralysis in your DREAM
I have had the same feelings. You wake and it literally feels like you are being pressed into the mattress.

In my case it was determinately sleep apnea. I tested over 60 times / hour that I would stop breathing. When you waken in one of these lack of air instances your body is starving for oxygen and muscles feel heavy..won't move.

I went on a diet lost 20 lbs and rid myself of the problem..

I still snore like a freight train though.
