Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1199925Tell that to your cats and dogs and other various domesticated animals who were made the way they were by way of our purposely making use of "evolution" to select the traits we wanted. The only difference is that the "selected traits" are not to adapt to a specific natural environment, but rather to adapt to a human conducted environment based on what the humans needed. Think about it for more than 2 seconds and you'll see what I mean :p |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 904314 Canada 03/09/2011 05:29 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | No, that's selective breeding. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1199925Exactly what it is. Selective breeding is human influenced "natural selection". The difference is WE are doing the selecting to adapt the animals to specific environments , not random changes that chance on a good adaption to an environment. In other words the "natural selection" favors the animal who's random traits best fit the environment as determined by humans. It's still the same process from a genetic standpoint. Or, to quote the official line: There is no real difference in the genetic processes underlying artificial and natural selection, and the concept of artificial selection was used by Charles Darwin as an illustration of the wider process of natural selection. The selection process is termed "artificial" when human preferences or influences have a significant effect on the evolution of a particular population or species. Indeed, many evolutionary biologists view domestication as a type of natural selection and adaptive change that occurs as organisms are brought under the control of human beings. Furthermore, I don't tell anything to cats or dogs, they're animals, dipshit, although they're probably smarter than internerds who believe in the nonsense of evolution. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1199925Even Canada has it's share of rednecks, eh! Where's the rest of the religitards? Not enough poo flinging in this thread yet! |
