Lots and lots of crows around my house today. More than the norm. Saw like 30 fly and hang out in the tree's of my backyard.

They kind a creep me out.

Does anyone know if they normally group together like this?
What do they signify?

In Canada, the sighting of a murder of crows indicates the return of the three-day long Canadian summer.

Then it is back to snow & despair.

In many cultures, the black crow is a very unlucky creature. In fact, he is considered a harbinger of death.

Yeah, because they feed on corpses after a battle. Usually associated with battlefields and war in many cultures for this reason.

When alot of crows gather, they are anticipating "Dinner" in the near future. They know when someone is about to die, and will gather on their lawn.

I lived in Alaska for 8 years. The natives believe that when they die, Their spirit goes into a crow. If ya look at all their totem poles, you'll see a crow at the top.

CROW - integrity and doing unto others as we would like them to do to us. Crow teaches us to know ourselves beyond the limitations of one-dimensional thinking and laws. It is about bringing magic into our lives. This animal teaches to appreciate the many dimensions both of reality and ourselves, and to learn to trust our intuition and personal integrity. There is magic wherever crows are. They give us the message that there is magic alive in our world and this magic is ours to use and create a new world for ourselves with.

-------------------
Crow, Power Animal, Symbol of Sacred Law, Change

Many cultures consider crows to be the keepers of the Sacred Law, for nothing escapes their keen sight. To have a Crow as a power animal is extremely powerful stuff. When we meditate on the crow and align with it, we are instilled with the wisdom to know ourselves beyond the limitations of one-dimensional thinking and laws. We are taught to appreciate the many dimensions of both reality and ourselves, and to learn to trust our intuition and personal integrity.

In Nordic mythology the raven or crows stand for wisdom. God Odin always had his both crows called Hugin and Munin with him sitting on his shoulders telling him what was going on in the world.
After christianization of Europe the raven was thought to be an evil being because of his importance with various "heathen cults"...
Again: Blame the church, they fucked it up. And don't worry, crows or ravens are not bad for you. In fact they are extraordinarily intelligent birds and fun to watch!

It's not that I don't like them. Just seeing and having so many hang out at one time is a bit unnerving. It's odd to see here and with everything going on, it has me a bit on edge.

Maybe your neighbor filled the bird feeder. Have you ever heard the saying "Birds of a feather will flock together" Well there is truth to that adage. They group together because they are birds of a feather. I take it you have seen a flock of geese? Well if you have, you would have noticed there was not one crow in the bunch. What do they signify? They signify crows. In your case, they signify 30 crows in the trees of your backyard. Interesting observation, you may want to get your local news team out there.

Interesting, as a test you may want to go stand in your back yard and see if one lands on you and then get back to us with the results.

Dont go outside forget the test. Chela posted

Wild crows can recognize individual people. They can pick a person out of a crowd, follow them, and remember them — apparently for years.

These crows followed you home from somewhere. Think where you were last. A pet store maybe? Wal-mart buying bird feed? I am now convinced by the Chela post they know you and want something. Are you wearing really shoes by chance? Forget the test I mentioned earlier, your friend maybe right. If I were you I would stay out of harm’s way and stay inside until the crows leave. When they leave, put something outside for them, like your watch, a $100 bill, or those really nice shoes. That way they will know you are their friend.

Re: What do black crows signify. I would like to know what they represent to different cultures?
I googled this a couple of weeks ago because I saw over 10 crows flying around my neighbor's house. It was a morning that I was sitting at my desk on my computer as usual....and I had never before seen crows, let alone that many flying around and making a ton of noise. I thought maybe there was a dead animal somewhere and they were feeding on it, but they never went to the ground. They just flew around the house. Logically I knew I was being completely paranoid...people can die at anytime and there's no point in worrying about something just because you hear about a superstition...but I came back here to reply to this thread because yesterday someone died in that house. Obviously it could be coincidence, but I'm not going to lie...it immediately made me think of the crows. Kind of freaks me out.

AN OLD INDIAN SAYING... IT BLACK CROWS LAND ON YOUR LAWN, DEPENDING UPON THE NUMBER, IN THAT MANY DAYS SOMEONE YOU KNOW WILL DIE... MY FATHER WAS IN THE HOSPITAL, AND THE LANDING OUT SIDE HIS ROOM (WHICH YOU COULD GO OUT ON IF WANTED) 3 BLACK CROWS WERE WALKING AROUND ON THAT LANDING, AND 3 DAYS LATER MY DAD DIED...I SAW THEM MY SELF.. I DO NOT LIKE OR WANT BLACK CROWS TO WALK ON MY LAWN, AND SINCE THAT TIME (2001) NO MORE CROWS HAVE LANDED ON MY LAWN OR AROUND A HOSPITAL WHERE SOMEONE I KNEW WAS IN THERE. SO ONLY DEATHS THAT HAVE HAPPEN (IN MY FAMILY OR FRIENDS) ARE A COUPLE OF MY "OLD" DOGS DID PASS AWAY... BUT THEY WERE VERY OLD AND HAD SOME ELDERLY AILMENTS..SO GUESS IT DON'T COUNT FOR ANIMALS.. EVEN THOUGH I CONSIDER MY PETS (DOGS AND CATS) MY FAMILY AND THEY ARE TREATED AS SUCH..

I chuckle at the mental image of a teepee with a nicely kept lawn... But as Chief Seattle said 'How can you possess the lawn?'

One thing I've read somewhere and always remembered; the first crows (or ravens) you see in the morning are an omen, if you see just one your day's going to suck, but if they're in a pair it's going to be a good day. No idea where it came from but now I always pay attention to them.

If they are still in your tree, go outside and sit under the tree and meditate. You will then realize how significant your life truly is.

If you can't meditate and still your mind, you will receive a message from the crows. It is called shit. Good luck!
