what's with OPs bumping their own threads?

when news is coming in fast and the first page is 3/4 full of pins. sometimes it's necessary in my opinion.

you can bump just by replying to youself. if you scroll down on this reply box, you will see a bunch of emoticons and pics that you can click on and they will show in this same box.

Bumping your own thread is too often abused by attention whores.

OP - aside from "bumping" yourself, be sure and copy-and-paste a whole shitload of bible verses. Maybe even consider using ALL CAPS TO MAKE YOUR POINT. People here understand that ALL CAPS means that THIS IS REALLY THE TRUTH, GOD TOLD ME...

It's because there is so much 'round the clock traffic here that your thread can be buried 2 pages deep within a minute or two.

This site needs some sort of structure to address the issue, but I'll be damned if I know how to implement such a thing.

So, bumping threads is necessary if you want them to be seen.

Most people here share their information in a sense of brotherhood and wanting other people to listen as a way to warn/protect/inform others. Their hearts are in the right place but that does nothing for the thread page scrolling like a stock market ticker.

I also think folks might bump their own threads because they find the topic interesting and want to start a dialogue but they topic will get lost if no one sees it ... therefore the bump! Plus people come on GLP at different times of the day... again...new readership and a reason to bump to continue the conversation.

Sometimes I hate it when a topic of interest that I'm following goes dead! Or I ask a question on a particular thread and again it goes dead and I never get an answer.

Funny, I heard that if you bump yourself while using ALL CAPS bible verses you may go blind and get harry palms.
