Has anyone ever had 'Exploding Head Syndrome' ... its real,, I have
This has happend to me twice in my life, I'm curious if anyone else has expierienced this:

'Exploding head syndrome is a condition that causes the sufferer occasionally to experience a tremendously loud noise as originating from within his or her own head, usually described as the sound of an explosion, roar, gunshot, loud voices or screams, a ringing noise, or the sound of electrical arcing (buzzing).

This noise usually occurs within an hour or two of falling asleep, but is not necessarily the result of a dream and can happen while awake as well.[1] While the sound is perceived as extremely loud, it is usually not accompanied by pain. Attacks appear to change in number over time, with several attacks occurring in a space of days or weeks followed by months of remission. Sufferers often feel a sense of fear and anxiety after an attack, accompanied by elevated heart rate. Attacks are also often accompanied by perceived flashes of light (when perceived on their own, known as a "visual sleep start") or difficulty in breathing. The condition is also known as "auditory sleep starts". It is not thought to be dangerous,[1] although it is sometimes distressing to experience. Sufferers may experience an inability to vocalize any sound, or mild forms of sleep paralysis during an attack.' Source -

Yes, it happens to me once in a while.
It sounds like a gun shot and it happens just as I drift off to sleep. It's lound enough to make me jerk every time.

Glad to see I'm not alone :-) and hope someone has an explanation.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

"...the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." I John 1:7

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23

And this is the record, that God hath given

I think I've been having something similar the past few nights. Maybe not so extreme. I'm not freaking out or anything. But definitely just as I'm falling asleep hear something loud in my head (I know it's not real) and jolt awake and I feel like I wasn't breathing or something.

Interesting, thanks.

These loud noises are a common feature of out-of-body experiences. In surveys, as many as 85% of respondents indicate perception of them during the onset of such experiences. [link to en.wikipedia.org]

I believe that this happens when our etheric body (or astral body in some Theosophical concepts) separates from our physical body.

pressure of veins in your ears and brain

it's not a good sign

you are about to have permanent damages to your hearing capability or brain damages especially if you are approaching your 50's/60's

acethilcoline could reverse, slow down damages

Yeah they made a movie about it called scanners
A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. †.

Re: Has anyone ever had 'Exploding Head Syndrome' ... its real,, I have
Yes I did experience this but did not know what it was called until I happened to come upon this term while surfing the web. I was about 45 or so & sound asleep one night. Woke up to a very loud "pop", scare me so much I went to the doc. Nothing was found. But the weirdest thing was the next day I found a very small burn hole in the center of my forehead! Makes me think these things are some kind of electrical discharge in the brain.....
