We see someones camcorder video of a tv news report with smoke coming out of something and the guy with the camera making an explosion sound. Do you speak japanese? do know "definitely" they said the reactor blew? Believe me, it blew . That video is of a news broadcast...and just this morning I have found links to articles that say, yes, it did blow up. Whatever it was that blew, has just left a steel frame skeleton, the rest of it is gone. although it's not encouraging (about as far from as possible TBH) Please bear in mind the reactor building (i.e. the weather proof shed the reactor is housed in) "does not necessarily mean" the reactor pressure vessel is damaged or breached however it's undeniable that some significant release of pressure occurred and unfortunately there are very few possible sources for such an explosive event within the reactor building itself that do not directly equate to massive release of radioactive material. From watching the video, there was more than just steam escaping...there were flames and black smoke in the center of the explosion....steam dosen't have flames in it...:( I believe it has gone the way of Chernobyl...exploded /burning core....it was smoking white after the initial explosion and fire too...looks the same to me, unfortunatly...:( |

DAMN.. Looks like i'm buying a couple of NBC masks for the family this week.... |

Wiki (i know) said radiation leakage should be very unlikely with modern reactors and containment buildings. Quoting: Jack Tripper[link to en.wikipedia.org] yep this is true thing is though fukushima 1 (reactor 1) first went critical in 1971 with R2-6 going critical through the 70s. meaning it's a 60's vintage (pre 3.M.I. pre chernobyl) reactor hardly "modern". Sheeeeeettttttt |
