From watching the video, there was more than just steam escaping...there were flames and black smoke in the center of the explosion....steam dosen't have flames in it...:(
I believe it has gone the way of Chernobyl...exploded /burning core....it was smoking white after the initial explosion and fire too...looks the same to me, unfortunatly...:(

sky news have a vested interest "nuclear expert" making spectaculaly ill informed claims about how this is not an issue and how things are OK he even said that the calimed integrity of the reactor pressure vessel is a dmonstration of how the reactos has worked well

just to recap several reactors at a nuclear plant first shut down then failed to cool corrently, have released radioation into the environment and then one (so far) has suffered a massive steam explosion

all following an earthquake for which they were allegedly designed to cope.

if that's working well, i'd hate to see working poorly.

Another powerful 6.4-magnitude tremor rocks eastern Japan
One more strong quake of 6.4-magnitude has hit off the eastern coast of Japan’s Honshu Island on Saturday, the US Geological Survey’s website says. The quake occurred at 1.15pm GMT and hit the Fukushima Prefecture, where earlier on Saturday an explosion rocked a nuclear power plant, sparking fears of a nuclear meltdown.
