Anonymous Coward 12/8/2005 10:08 AM | | Re: [BREAKING] IRAN THREATENS TO STOP OIL EXPORT | Quote | Oil will break $70 per barrel Monday if this threat is true, and that will add 30 cents to each gallon of gas. If they actually ever turned off the tap the price per barrel would easily exceed $100. Meltdown City!! |

Anonymous Coward 12/8/2005 10:08 AM | | Re: [BREAKING] IRAN THREATENS TO STOP OIL EXPORT | Quote | Bush raises option of using force against Iran
JERUSALEM (Reuters) - President Bush said on Israeli television he could consider using force as a last resort to press Iran to give up its nuclear programme.
"All options are on the table," Bush, speaking at his ranch in Crawford, Texas, said in the interview broadcast on Saturday.
Asked if that included the use of force, Bush replied: "As I say, all options are on the table. The use of force is the last option for any president and you know, weīve used force in the recent past to secure our country."
Iran angered the European Union and the United States by resuming uranium conversion at the Isfahan plant last Monday after rejecting an EU offer of political and economic incentives in return for giving up its nuclear programme.
Tehran says it aims only to produce electricity and denies Western accusations it is seeking a nuclear bomb.
Bush made clear he still hoped for a diplomatic solution, noting that EU powers Britain, Germany and France had taken the lead in dealing with Iran.
Washington last week expressed a willingness to give negotiations on Iranīs suspected nuclear weapons program more time before getting tougher with the country.
"In all these instances we want diplomacy to work and so weīre working feverishly on the diplomatic route and weīll see if weīre successful or not," Bush told state-owned Israel Channel One television.
Bush has also previously said that the United States has not ruled out the possibility of military strikes. But U.S. officials have played down media speculation earlier this year they were planning military action against Iran.
French Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy said on Friday that negotiations were still possible with Iran on condition the Iranians suspend their nuclear activities.
The governing board of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) unanimously called on Iran on Thursday to halt sensitive atomic work.
Douste-Blazy said the next step would be on September 3 when IAEA chief Mohamed ElBaradei reports on Iranīs activities.
If Iran continues to defy global demands, another IAEA meeting will likely be held, where both Europe and Washington will push for a referral to the U.N. Security Council for possible sanctions.

complete stop of the oil export from the Persian golf. He did

Anonymous Coward 12/8/2005 10:08 AM | | Re: [BREAKING] IRAN THREATENS TO STOP OIL EXPORT | Quote | Iran would be shooting themselves in the foot.
"Iranīs economy relies heavily on oil export revenues - around 80-90 percent of total export earnings and 40-50 percent of the government budget."

Natural gas leaks out of the ground all over this area, as does petroleum.
Oil actually seems to the surface in my back yard.
Maybe I need to drill my own well on my own property and make a small refinery!
"They" tell me I cannot do this because I do not actually own the minerals in the ground on my land, the government does! |

Interdimensional warrior 12/8/2005 10:08 AM | | Re: [BREAKING] IRAN THREATENS TO STOP OIL EXPORT | Quote | I just had a thought, if oil goes to 100 a barrel or higher, alot of people here who were poor are going to be very rich.
Some of the wells are owned by small independants who were poor during the 20 dollar a barrel days.
You think of a guy with an oil well or two as "rich", not neccesarily. Some of these guys are just average working class ,and are only pumping 2 or three hundred gallons a day per well. |

we canīt expect to condone them one minute then sell us oil cheaply the next, we are so stupid and naive about this countries.
-----------------
They can sell oil to other nations and we can buy from the ones we are not in conflict with.
For instance, the Iranians can sell to the Chinese, and then we can buy from the Canadians, and so on. |
