I have no idea what the half-life is of this fallout honestly-two weeks may not be near enough.

...

Again I do not know the half-life of these alleged particles. But I suspect its a hell of alot more than the fallout from a "clean" nuclear weapon-meaning that if the 750 number is right-the USA most of Canada and most of Mexico will be a long long term radioactive dead zone.
Again please post the source and background regarding that map.
If this is anyway close to credible we are in a giant global catastrophe.
 Quoting: Dervish

Plutonium has been reported as been reported as the fuel.

And when the particles get into the atmosphere, they will travel around the globe and each one will eventually drop somewhere.. but they will not "go away" for a long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long time...

All that matters now is if the concrete containment is cracked or significantly damaged as a result of the explosion or continued movement of the earth. The lack of cooling speaks for itself and time is not on their side.

I think from what I know, the Japanese governments assessment is over optimistic.

would appear to most likely be either the -239 or -241 isotopes, neither of which is the "good" one (-238, 88 years).

My apologies, the half-life of PU-241 is only 14 years. It remains an open question then what the damage could be.

Fukushima is a light water reactor. From wiki:

"Spent nuclear fuel from normal light water reactors contains Plutonium, but it is a mixture of Plutonium-242, 240, 239 and 238. The mixture is not sufficiently enriched for efficient nuclear weapons, but can be used once as MOX fuel."

MOX fuel is what the experts on tv were talking about fueling this reactor.

"Mixed oxide, or MOX fuel, is nuclear fuel containing more than one oxide of fissile or fertile materials. Specifically, it usually refers to a blend of oxides of plutonium and natural uranium, reprocessed uranium, or depleted uranium which behaves similarly (though not identically) to the low-enriched uranium oxide fuel for which most nuclear reactors were designed. MOX fuel is an alternative to low enriched uranium (LEU) fuel used in the light water reactors that predominate nuclear power generation."

But they must be acting in consultation with other world leaders and nations. There is a reason they are ALL silent IMO. For better or for worse, it is apparently the same old tired world game plan to stall, deflect, discount, ignore, deny and ostrich-ize themselves as long as possible.

Re: Explosion at the Fukushima Nuclear power plant in Japan and possible meltdown coming.
I have no idea what the half-life is of this fallout honestly-two weeks may not be near enough.A nuke uses most of that energy in the bombs explosion. An out of control reactor doe not.

If one reactor goes bang and one more is close to being tits up-you have a huge probability of a no mans land around the second one so that would also be a possible catastrophic event if no one can get to work on it.

Water pumped into the core in an uncontained manner results in huge amounts of radioactive steam and gas. When you get into a China Syndrome type nightmare a constant venting of vaporized radioactive matter spews up somewhere-even if its alot of glass(sand) on top while its molten it allows gases to seep thru-rather violently.

Now- to the important point-that map that someone posted...
where did that come from? Whats the history behind it?
Because if they plan on 750 rads for the western USA EVERYTHING there dies.I assume its 350 rads for the rest of the USA-ALOT of things die in that zone.

Again I do not know the half-life of these alleged particles. But I suspect its a hell of alot more than the fallout from a "clean" nuclear weapon-meaning that if the 750 number is right-the USA most of Canada and most of Mexico will be a long long term radioactive dead zone.

The Soviet Union has used Tacttical Nuclear weapons in the past.

Wat you have just written here has just scared the crap out of me...
Th enormity of the poor Jaaneese people situation will become very clear soon.

If this is anyway close to credible we are in a giant global catastrophe.

I think about Elenn as being close to the next ELE event coming in NOvember we definatly need to consider shutting down all of the worlds Nuke plants to provide those remaining an oppurtunity to survive before the pole shift

Doctors in Japan do not tell their patients that the patients have terminal cancer.

The doctors see no point in inflicting what they consider unproductive emotional pain on the dying.
