| Anonymous Coward User ID: 1244805 03/15/2011 07:01 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | normal CPM is 5 to 60, over 120/130 you start to really worry what we need to watch for is numbers increasing steadily over short periods of time and numbers going over 120 or 130 CPM higher elevations will have higher CPM naturally due to thinner atmosphere and radiation from space |

I'm gonna check their web site for more info. now. Quoting: Doominator 162364164 chirps/min doesn't fit within any of the nukalert chirp profiles. Maybe give them a call and see if it could be defective? |

| Programmer (OP) User ID: 1105850 03/15/2011 07:10 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | okay so what is normal background CPM's and what is above normal? Quoting: MysticThat depends on environmental influence, and also varies from detector to detector (probe). Commercial air-travel you are subjected to ~250-400 CPM while flying. If we start to see readings jump from say 20 CPM to 200 CPM then we'd want to begin an investigation into why. If you validated a reading of, say, >3000 CPM you'd want to isolate the source and monitor your dosimeter to determine the exposure hazard based on time since initial exposure. | Anonymous Coward User ID: 1279068 03/15/2011 07:12 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Great idea OP! All we are hearing out of our 'leaders' is the "No prob" routine, instead of real information. One note... Need some in the southern regions. Jet stream is dropping to the south and it is likely to hit So. Cal/Baja/Mexico first now, from the looks of it. |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 1150479 03/15/2011 07:36 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I am hoping that someone will start a radiation monitoring thread. I thought about it, but I work all day and could not maintain one. Quoting: JohntarazIf there is fallout traveling across the pacific ocean right now it is predicted to reach the US in 10-11 days. I don't feel we should trust the authorities to provide us with timely acurrate data on this. The thread would have to be monitored to prevent people from posting bogus readings and trying to cause fear. Posts could be requested to have a link to their source. I really hope that someone can do this, I am concerned that if these reactors keep failing and there is a true meltdown, the levels of fallout might become enough to impact the health of persons in the US. I just posted this^^^ on a couple of the nuclear doom threads. You are awesome. I hope you will weed out the false reports. I ordered a geiger counter on Friday so I will join the reporting when it arrives. Thanks man. JT in Oregon 5 stars :hoorayfireworks: Thank you, it will be good to have you join in, especially from Oregon. You'll be very helpful. As far as false reports, there really is no way to weed them out without 2nd or 3rd party validation. I suppose we could provide a link to a sanitized photo of our calibration cert. if a reading comes under scrutiny. OP, Might I suggest that you start 3 different threads. One for California, one for oregon, and one for washington - and of course our canadian commrades as well otherwise this thread won't be very useful over time.. |

Nothing for Hawaii....that's what I'd like to keep my eye on. This site is down. |

Fallout could land in Indiana and go right over Oregon. |
