It sounds like #2 did not visibly blow up outside. This was an internal explosion. The pressure inside was about 30PSI, then an explosion, then the pressure was zero... So it blew a big hole in the SOB and now the shit is spewing out or will very soon. Most of the radiation right now is probably from #3. But #3 is probably even worse than #2 right now.

Pictures are scarce because nobody is near enough or dumb enough to go near it all.

But it is getting to the worst case pretty fast now.

There is no much anyone can do there to stop it so you might as well get everyone out and just let it go.

The reporter said something about that the radiation dropped suddenly at one point and they was trying to figure out why that happened.
Anything more about that?

It is just the wind blowing the crap around. Imagine smoke from a fire. In this case, the smoke is invisible. God only knows what the level is right at the reactor.

Just by chance found this blog today---you all seem to be about the only ones considering all the bits and pieces of what is going on in Japan instead of waiting to be told the same old 'don't worry too much' story coming from their govt, repeated by all the news orgs and even by our own govt. Our nuclear powered USSRonReagan moved our sailors away from the coast of Japan because of too much radiation from that second blast, then from what you all were writing on this third blast, there aren't words to describe how awful this situation has gotten over there? and lying to your citizens does what exactly? the workers in the nuke plants, can they even survive this?

I am wondering if, those of us on the west coast of California have much to worry about should these explosions be what they appear to be, highly radioactive---how long until the jet stream sends it to us? How far could it travel and what does this mean for the sea life of the Pacific? and for all the folks on Japan proper? in Asia? Russia?

Besides the eq aftershocks, has anyone else heard any updates about the volcano in southern Japan--on Kyushu--it is spewing tons of smoke, could it be about to erupt?

What is happening there is so very heartbreaking.

L’Autorité de sûreté nucléaire (ASN) a confirmé lundi soir la « fusion partielle » des coeurs des réacteurs 1, 2 et 3 de la centrale nucléaire de Fukushima-1 frappée par le tsunami après le séisme de vendredi. « La fusion partielle du coeur est confirmée, l’exploitant poursuit l’opération de refroidissement du coeur par injection d’eau de mer », a indiqué l’organisme français dans un communiqué publié sur son site internet faisant le point pour chacun des trois réacteurs en difficulté.

European Nuclear safety officials have confirmed meltdown in all three reactors at Fukushima.

Meltdown, or fusion, same thing thing really...
