Great post. With all the news coming at once its easier to digest when someone "defrags" it every once in a while. Thanks for using your time to do this.

The WCS is China acquires Japan for free. Everybody panics and leaves including the leaders and China is the only country that has enough troops to maintain control of the situation.

Then there's the technical problem of what to do with an out of control massive nuclear reaction.

Great post SHR, really, except for the fact that TEPCO personnel has left due to high levels of radiation. It was on the ticker and I posted a thread about it, but it doesn't seem to be there at the moment.

I saw that ticker and posted the info here:

We will know very soon. According to another breaking thread, Radiation is now too high for TEPCO personnel to stay in control room. suicide

Also, cracked plumbing prevents pressure build up. A little pressure is a good thing as it raises the boiling point of the water. Similar to a radiator in a car and why you never open it hot. Because the water is beyond boiling temps but the pressure keeps it from boiling over. The moment the pressure is released the water flash boils violently like a steam bomb.

Same with any water cooled system. Adding pressure to the water increases boil over temps. It is a desired effect in the cooling system. But, as system are designed to operate at these standard pressures, anything with less pressure will operate under the standard.

So even if they are pumping in tons of sea water it will just flash boil and rise as steam with pressure increases. That pressure increase will exit the system through the cracks. The cracks will open up quickly due to the rushing steam leaving the plumbed system.

Eventually leading to a full meltdown. And if any reactor has potential to go China Syndrome, it is reactor #3 with the MOX fuel. Once the temps hit 641*C the Plutonium melts out of the fuel mix. Increasing heat dramatically.
 Quoting: ºCRAPº

All true...the system is meant to be pressurized and that does raise the boiling point...gotta wonder how long the seawater bandaide can last even if it is doing anything worthwhile with all the salt that must be getting cooked out into everything.

Great post man.

Idk if you've heard this or not yet, but at the press conference last night (10:30ish GLP time) they revealed *almost in passing* that Neutron radiation had been detected outside of reactor #3... the MOX reactor.

That's an indication of open-air leakage directly from the fuel.

Just gets better & better.

Not shocked there...that second explosion HAD to do more damage than they are letting on IMO...cause they ain't "letting on" for shit...you can just feel that they are in panic mode...away from the public view...

Sorry no good news from what I can see going on here guys, but it's not looking good at all. The best it seems they can do is dump and pump seawater into everything they can and blow off radioactive steam until the whole complex just burns off and burns up...there won't be any atomic explosion...but there doesn't need to be...the whole mess will belch out radioactive smoke, fire and steam in a big way...getting worse and as it goes until all the reactors with hot fuel rods go into a full uncontrolled meltdown.

Whether that meltdown will cook through the containments and head into a "China Syndrome" type scenario I don't believe anyone knows for sure....this is just about as uncharted territory for nuclear disasters as it gets....but I hate to think about the odds of that actually happening with possibly 3 or maybe more shots at it.

There is whole lot more room for things to get worse here than better anytime soon guys...and some of the worst that can happen is bone chilling...

The answer is sand...tons and tons of sand. As the sand melts and layer after layer is poured on it will begin to solidify and form a glass seal...of course it's best that they melt into the ground so that the sand can be poured into the hole, but that will happen naturally anyway if they just stop playing with it and let it happen...

So, it seems from all the information out there that if all the reactors and all the spent fuel rods melt down--the scenario which is seemingly playing out--then basically this is a nuclear ELE, or TEOTWAWKI, right?

It's a very serious question. Thoughts, SHR?
