There is alot to read in this thread, I have not read it all yet. But I find it very interesting, I did wonder where the people were when they showed the videos but it was a passing thought. I think you are right, we are trained to ignore these things.

No plans of running, here on the central coast. I'm so damn sure of myself I don't even have potassium iodide. But when it comes to not dying I've always been lucky. I have lost track of my close calls, last count was around 20 near death experiences. 6 of those I still don't understand how I survived.
So no I'm not going anywhere, if I die then it's my time.
